holy hell!

one of my boss'' does this (hums, whistles, or sings) uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh!

it is beyond frustrating- because how do you approach it, especially if the person doesn''t even realize they are doing it?

it drives me crazy!

the other day, i had the worst migraine in the world, and all i could hear was his stupid whistling! i just about lost it..haha.

One of the owners of the company I work for does that too! It''s really annoying, especially when I''m trying to speak with him about something, or showing him diagrams and tables, or talking about really important stuff, a huge contract I''ve just signed, for example. I feel like he''s not listening to what I''m saying at all! Usually he is, though. He somehow manages to listen carefully and hum/whistle/mumble at the same time. lol

Yes, but I think that might just be a GUY thing. One of my bosses (the one who does not whistle) always dazes and I''ll accuse him of not listening (in a very jokingly way) BUT he always repeats exactly what I just said. This being said- my husband does the same thing! haha. They always listen, but not actively...haha

My mil hums all. the. time. It makes me insane. It is always the same tune. I don''t even know what it is, but it is always the same thing. She doesn''t even know she does it. One of my kids mentioned it to her, and I think she (mil) thinks it''s cute. She seems to think it is a sign of how happy she is when she is around us.

I am convinced it is just another way to drive her dil crazy!

So...these workplace singers, Do you tell them to stop it?

DH raps about whatever he is reading or thinking about. So it could be something from the Economist, it might not even be all in the same language, but he does it all the time at home (i think it is hysterical and still love it, might change my mind eventually though). I am convinced that he does it at work too and I know that the lovely Asian lab boys are not going to tell him to knock it off. I hate that they are having to listen to DH rap nonsense, hopefully they wear headphones?

I have a co-worker that does this. We are in those tall cubicles, and she sits across the aisle and three cubes down from me - and I can still hear her. Granted, our office stays pretty quiet, but OMG. Tune it down a little, seriously. It would also help if you could carry a tune, or if I could understand a single word - but it''s all mumbled and ridiculous. She also tries to do it through her teeth, blowing air like she''s whistling but not...''shhh, shhh, shhh'' OVER AND OVER.

Dear lord. Get a karaoke machine and do it at home. Seriously.

Do you know one of these people?
OMG. I have a HUMMER in my office. Drives me up a creek!!!! Argh, people it''s a CUBE.

Depending on the intensity of the singer, I will either pop in my headphones or ask them to tone it down - no one has been offended by me asking them to be a little quieter yet, but I usually try to just let them be. It drives me nuts, but I know some people don''t do it on purpose, and it helps them think. The ones that do it on purpose and are simply rude about it? I politely ask them to STFU

It so irritates me also, MP. I work with one of these - not only does she sing, she dances - often. And in front in patients, no less. Pure high school.

How people can be like this - I don't know. I have so much more going on in my mind and life than *little tunes*.

I guess it is a guy thing. Come to think about it, most men I know never seem to look completely absorbed in any conversation, (at least not in the way us women do) but they usually hear everything that''s being discussed.

sonoma, she sings and dances?! OMG, ROFL!!!

My roommate in college did this occasionally. She''s a singer, so it wasn''t bad actually - she has a really nice voice. The only time it drove me absolutely batty was when the Rent movie came out, and she sang Seasons of Love for 2 weeks straight (she didn''t even realize she was doing it at times). Seasons of Love is one of those songs that, once I hear it, it gets stuck in my head forever, so it was super annoying. But I love my roomie to death, so we got past those two weeks, lol
