Hubby and I are giving our parents albums for Christmas. We are making different ones for each set of parents so that MY parents'' album doesn''t end up with 5000 pics of HIS family, ya know?

Did y''all still add in the "special touch" shots as well? Things like pics of my shoes, the programs, me and my maids getting dressed... that kind of thing? Those are pictures that are important to us and will be in our own album, but I don''t know that they''re neccessarily important for HIS family to have in their album. What did y''all do?

I love the thought of parents albums. I wish we were able to pick out different photos for the parents album, but my daughter''s photographer only allows a parent''s album to be a mini album of the wedding album. If we want to choose different pictures than the wedding album, we have to pay the regular price of the wedding album....Boo.....

Did you check what your photographers practices were, or are you having them done elsewhere?

Thanks for the reply Miracles. We are having them printed on our own so I'm designing the albums. Nothing fancy... just printed into a book. I'm ALMOST done putting together our own album and now I'm kind of leaning towards making duplicates of that one for the parents. It took longer than I expected to make the original one.

So would you say its better to choose different pics for each set of parents? I think the only way I would do that is if MOST of the album stayed the same and I just took out a few pictures here and there. I don't think I can really add any more pictures because uploading them took FOREVER.

We are buying parent albums for both sets of parents. They are smaller versions of ours with the same pictures. I don''t see having pics of one side of the fam over the other more prominently in our book. If either parents want those pictures then they can order them separate. I would go with mini books of what you are getting as your album. I am sure both sets of parents will appreciate them no matter what.

Hi Oobie...

I would also like to make albums for both sets of parents, but with time getting closer and closer to Christmas, I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew at this point! Are you actually printing photos and inserting them in a book or are you ordering a "book" online with pictures you provide? My friend''s photographer did a FANTASTIC board book that is TDF, but I don''t really know who makes them. I suppose maybe Kodak or Shutterfly might have them, as well as Costco or Sam''s Club...they all seem to be doing more personalized things these days, but since you''ve already started, I thought you might have some good ideas! Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thats exactly how I feel! I am making books using shutterfly so they''ll come already printed and everything. I saw a Picaboo book a while back and it just looked so nice. The shutterfly ones look the same on their webpage and their photo editer/publisher is supposed to be better than Picaboos so we went with them. There are places for text in the books but i think the only text I''ll be adding are our names and date on the front page. Hopefully the rest of the pictures are self explanatory and don''t need title or anything.

I can''t say for certain what your families will prefer but after my engagement photos I realized my mom and I had two different expectations as far as photos are concerned. I loved the shots that showed Nate and I being playful together or the little details of us holding hands or looking off into the distance together and all my mom could mention was that there weren''t enough close ups of our faces hehe In my opinion, that just reaffirmed that I picked the right photographers because I love the naturalness that comes with the candids while she is apparently looking for the more forced/formal shots. You might want to try to do a bit of reconnaissance work to determine the preferences of your target audience. ;)

I love the idea of the parent''s album though and if Nate and I had more time between our wedding and Christmas I''d be all over that gift option.

If your MIL is anything like mine she will want pictures of HER friends and HER family only.
