Hello,

I would appreciate some advice on the new Windows 7 - if you read this Karl your advice is always spot on for this stuff; but if anyone knows the answers I''m all ears!

Basically I have 2 questions:

1. I run XP on my laptop and have been pretty happy with it for most part. Should I upgrade to 7? Is there anything/much advantage in it?

2. I have heard that if you are currently running XP, you cannot do a straightforward upgrade to Windows 7 - apparently you have to do a whole new system install (ie. backup all documents and programs etc), "start anew" as it were.
Is this correct? And if so, is there an "easy" way - or best way - to do this..?
I was thinking backup to external HD (which admittedly, I need to buy still - I know!

) - but any other suggestions?

Looking forward to any insights/advice - also from those who have already changed to Win7 - was it worth it? Much improvement?

TIA!

No reason to upgrade to 7 from xp until you get a new computer or 2014.
If I was running vista home I would upgrade to 7 in Jan. or Feb.

With any os upgrade a format and reinstall is a very good idea.
XP to 7 I do believe it is required.
