Paging all the 'reset' PSers!

I know there are a lot of posters on PS bitten by the reset bug. My question is, if you feel like sharing, what did you do with all your previous settings? Did you sell them, trade them in, keep them? I'm picturing people with a bunch of empty settings sitting in their jewelry boxes, but maybe that's not the case. Thanks for sharing!

My ring was in a temp setting. So when I reset I put a lovely garnet cut by Gene into it, I had worn it for 4 years and was sentimental about it. But it was stolen when our house was broken into. The second time I "re-set" It was halo only and the metal went to scrap and I still have a bunch of 1 pointers running about somewhere around here.

I'm trying to sell mine. I suppose I could always put a colored stone in the setting, but every time I think about it, I can't decide which colored stone to use so I end up doing nothing!

I'm awful. I changed my mind about what I really wanted before it was even ready. So it ended up being a temp setting of sorts. I finally made up my mind for real this time though. I was trying not to spend so much but I was really wasting money. I'm done now and I'm looking for a new hobby.

I kept my original e-ring mounting and set it with a colored stone. I never wear it, but I'll never part with it. Some went into trade for new pieces, and some are in the scrap bag waiting to be scrapped!

My first setting I sold for scrap; it had been sort of ruined when a head was replaced so no point in keeping it.

My second setting I set a fakey in it and am selling.

I am also setting the mount that my AVC was in for a week!

But if they don't sell, I will likely just scrap them.

Coatimundi are you talking about your James Meyer setting? what coloured stone did you set it with?

For my most recent reset I am re-using my previous setting with modifications to fit my new stone. In the past I've scrapped the old settings and applied the cash towards my purchase.

Sold one, kept one, going to keep this one. So yes, I have empty settings sitting in my jewellery box

I just posted mine on Colored Stones looking for feedback.. I am searching to add a sapphire to my original setting to wear as a right hand ring...

The pictures below has a 1.41ct 6.5m Montana Sapphire dropped (not set) in.. for me to look at.... I am thinking this is the winner.. but.. it's early and I have only been looking for six months or so.....

It's sitting in a box, waiting for me to do something. It's 18K YG, but I think it would look much better in a white metal. I'm considering rhodium-plating it, but am wondering 1) if the rhodium could ever be totally removed if I change my mind OR 2) how often I will have to plate it if I don't change my mind

Mayk, I totally love your setting when you post it with the diamond. If I ever get around for reset I think it's what I'll go with. But would you suggest differently since I know you had problem with it as e-ring

Thanks minmin... yep...had issues with the stones popping out... I have asked the jeweler to fix the places where there are only three prongs on the stones... hopefully it will help... if they start popping out in other places I will be looking for a new home for the Montana Sapphire...

I kept them for years (3 settings- 2 empty and one with an aquamarine stone) and just sold them a few weeks ago to a jeweler friend of my parents for scrap.

I had 2 platinum settings -one with an aquamarine stone set in it by the jeweler gratis who did our 2nd reset and 1 white gold setting with diamond baguettes. I never wore the one with the aquamarine and the other 2 were empty. With the prices of platinum and white gold so high I finally decided to sell them so I could finance another purchase. So I did!

I was vacillating as to what to do since one of those was the one my dh proposed with but he didn't care and after I thought about it I thought it was silly to keep and not wear and I could put that money to good use.

It feels good to get rid of stuff I do not wear and I have been thinking of selling some other jewelry but will wait on that as I might want to pass some stuff down to my nieces when they get older.

Nooooooo, sell it to meeeeee!!!! Hehehehehe. Kidding! (Kind of!) Ha!

DH proposed with my diamond in a temp plat solitaire setting. It was a monster Stuller claw prong eyesore that I actually miss now. I have no idea where it is. The last time I saw it was when Mark gave it to me in a tiny baggie. I kept it in the temp setting for a while until I reset it. As for all the earring stud settings, I just gave them back to Yekutiel! I have no idea what I would do with an empty setting!

Well....before I sent my ring to BGD for it's beautification, my local jeweler really messed up my original setting. I still have it, but will never re-use it or sell it, as the workmanship is really shoddy. I'll probably end up scrapping it with some other gold at some point.

Mine is in awesome shape and hopefully holds some value since it's designer, so I'm consigning it with JBEG. They have had it now for a while and I don't miss it, so I think I made the right decision. I think it's usually worth trying to sell something first, it can always be sold for scrap later.
