Wedding Outside Wedding???

My fiance and I either want to have our wedding at Dodgers Stadium or at the Culver Studios both outside venues. We had originally planned a mid October wedding. The weather is still pleasant enough to be outdoors. However we now think we''d like a winter wedding so January 2010 might be our first choice.

My question is wether the idea of a winter wedding outdoors is crazy. I think the coldest I''ve seen it here in LA is like 43 degrees at night.

What do you think?

I live in LA, and honestly I don''t think I''d like to go to an outdoors wedding in the winter. Most of my formal attire isn''t too warm, and I wouldn''t want to dance outside in a jacket! Sitting at a ceremony in 50 degree weather for 20 minutes is one thing, but sitting for dinner hours is going to get cold...fast. If you do decide to go the outdoor route, you''d be much better tenting it and getting heaters....both of which can be very pricey.

Personally, I think an outdoor wedding in January would be too cold. I recently went to a wedding in Upstate NY, and I think it was somewhere around 50 degrees outside. The wedding was actually indoors, but the photography was outside, and I froze my tail off in my strapless bridesmaid dress! I would want my guests to be comfortable, not wishing they were inside!

I have to say the first thing that came to mind was Phoebe''s wedding in the winter outside in new york and it was sooooooooooo beautiful!!! i think it is very doable as long as your guests are comfortable
or maybe just do a quick ceremony outside and then have the reception inside? have a hot chocolate bar inside where they can add things (peppermint, marshmallows, etc.) for the guests when they come out of the cold, i think it would be very nice good luck!

You should check into the locations. It is probably possible, just more expensive. I have been looking around and (in the midwest), you can get tower propane space heaters at most venues or for tents but they are about $200 a pop. The rental places here suggest one per every 10-15 people. To me, 53 at night sounds lovely.

I went to an outdoor wedding in Long Beach in the winter. The ceremony started at 4 and and was cold, but very nice. As long as you get heat lamps and advise your guest that they should wear coats, you should be fine. Also, you should have a "plan B" in case it rains. Also, please have the dinner inside, because I went to another outdoor wedding where it was so cold and I could not enjoy the food.

I think that if only the ceremony is outside, then your guests can "suck it up" for 30 minutes or so.

If the entire wedding is outside, then I ditto Cali.

I think it is doable as long as you provide heaters, I know you can rent those, and maybe blankets or pashminas for the ladies. I think it would be a nice touch. I have seen weddings where brides provided throws for the guest to cuddle under in case the get too cold. That is always a Idea. People that want to come to your wedding will come no matter the season, weather, or date. Just remember that!

My thought too. Ceremony might be doable, but the entire thing might be a bit crazy if it''s really cold.

Is there a backup place indoors you could use if it''s really cold? That''s another option...

It was freezing. I think you need to make it known the ceremony will be OUTSIDE so your guests can bundle up. That being said with a short ceremony (and heat lamps) if it is your dream you should go for it.

Plus, do you remember how much it RAINED in So. Cal last January? With climate change, you can''t predict what the weather will be like as much as you could a few years ago, when it rarely rained in Jan. here.
