We've settled on this invitation from invitesite.com Well, actually, FI settled on this one. I like it, but it was about my 5th choice! He said the ones I liked were too, and I quote "bumpy".

It looks like we'll need about 75 according to our current guest list, to cover Wedding Part 1 and Wedding Part 2, and they provide 10% extra paper for mistakes.

How many extra invites would you order in case you... a) remember people that should have been on the list b) invite (cough) b-listers if you end up with room... etc.

Does 10 extra sound like too many? not enough? They are $3.50 each (incl. RSVP cards) so it won't break the bank if we don't use them. But of course we don't want to waste money either!

What do you think?

10 does not sound like enough to me. i would rather have over than under. and don''t forget to have an extra or two for yourself. i also had extras for the parents. one that hadn''t gone through the mail destruction process.

I''m not too sure that ten is enough either.. But I do love that invitation!

I also agree that 10 doesn''t sound like a lot. I''d rather have way over than be short even one or two.

I think maybe 20 extra though should be ok. It really depends on how long you think your b-list is. Maybe you should get as many extra as there are on your b-list, incase you want to invite them all. I would guessitmate at least 2 or 3 mistakes (or maybe that''s just me because I KNOW I''m going to mess up when I do my invites!)

You will definitly want to keep one for yourself. :D

Yes, I agree better too many than too few! And that''s a good point that I should actually have one for us for posterity. Hadn''t even thought of that.

So what do you think? How many extras did YOU guys get?

Glad you love the invite. I''d say I ''like it a lot''. But FI loves it, and I guess this is, uh, marriage practice. Right? The whole compromise thing? (sigh )

I really like the invitation! I''d say it''s a good compromise -- it is lovely.

If you need 75 right now, I''d probably order 100 and call it good. You will likely need more than 10 extra, esp. if you want to keep a few for posterity.

i think we ordered 50 over? maybe or was it 25? i know it was plenty. but, i was super attached to my invites so going over was A-OK with me. also, order MORE envelopes than you think you need. inner and outer if you''re using both. cause you''ll (or someone) willl mess up.
and if you''re like us, someone (or two) will say they never received

their invite so, you''ll have to send another...

hum, wonder which list that address was on...

yeh. not mine. but that''s a whole nuther issue.

Ooooh, I love invitesite! My best friend bought her invite supplies from there - her invitations were beautiful!!!

Excellent choice!

I would order way more than you think you need. I ordered 125 invitations thinking I needed 108 (including one for myself). I had them printed, so I wasn''t worried about mistakes, but in the end we ended up sending out 122!!! I did pockets, and a couple of the pockets were not constructed really well, so the last really nice invitation I could send out was the 122nd. I wish I had ordered 130 or 135 because I couldn''t have a b-list (not that I ended up needing it anyhow, but still!), and had more of the pockets been unuseable I would have had a bigger problem.

I would suggest you get 95 invites, maybe even up to 100. If you are REALLY firm about your guest list, you could probably go down to 90....

Ditto to JCrow - lots of people say they never got it!

I would order 100.

We thought we needed 78, ordered 110 and the company just sent us 125 (since apparently they work in units of 25) and that was way extra but we did end up using just over 100 invited needed for b-listers and other extras. However, I thought that with B-listers we might creep up to 90 or so, and the rest were for mistakes and such.

I agree with others, extra envelopes is key for typos.

Plus MIL threatened not to send in her reply card unless she was given another unadulterated invitation set (or 10) to save for posterity ....

ETA: Oh, very cute invite.

Thanks ladies. That certainly helps put things in perspective.

I think what I''ll do is budget 8 for ''never received it!'', 2 for us, then one for each ''B-lister'', plus an extra 5 for random unforeseen occurences. I think that comes out to 22 extras.

They''ll send us 10 extra of each printable thing in case of mistakes too, which I think should cover it!

Honestly? I''m not a stuff keeper (my mom had to talk me into keep my degrees

...kidding... but only just!) so while it would be great to have extras for posterity, I won''t cry if we end up with only one!

We invited about 60 people and needed maybe 25 invitations. I had a choice of ordering 25 invitations and 10 extra, or just ordering 50 invites. I ordered 50 and only used 30 invites/RSVPs/direction cards, but used about 40 outer envelopes and 35 or so inner envelopes, haha. I was hand writing mine, so I thought that was the reason, but a good friend of mine who was printing her invites ran into the same problem. My advice is not to order a ton of extra invites, but do order at least 15-20 extra outer envelopes.

I got a lot that was lost in the mail. It made me rethink my trust in the united states post office. I would order 25 extra (100 total). Better to have too many than not enough.

Thanks everyone! I was reading the literature they sent me, and they let you re-order in increments of 15. Cool! Plus they're really fast about it. So given our new budgetary traumas (see my 'wedding band woes' thread, I think I'll order 15 extra, and then we can order another 15 if need be. At this point, every penny counts.

They automatically send extra envelopes and printable paper included in the price, in case of mistakes. Phew! So I'll have 25 extra printables, and 15 extra bits of ribbon etc.
