Congratulations Holly and Mr. Holly!

The place looks great! I love how open and airy, and light and bright it is. I love the big windows.

Isn''t it great when everything falls into place like that. It really makes it feel like it was "meant to be".

Oh, and I love your "free gift with purchase". It''s rare that you get a GOOD surprise after signing the papers!

It looks so fresh & clean! New house smell! You''ll have a blast decorating & making it home.

Thanks, everybody!

I''ve been a bit out of touch; we had a big storm yesterday, and it knocked our computer out at work. Then I go home, only to have the power go out for two - two and a half hours. You don''t realize how much time you spend on the computer, until you can''t!

Still not up at work; I''m typing this from the IT guy''s laptop he brought in. Shoulda thought of that myself! IT guy just popped in; this outage isn''t just us, it is widespread. That means we may not be up and running on Monday, either.

I need couches. I''m going to start a thread asking y''all to post great couches you find out there. I need ideas. I''m liking this one because you just can''t seem to find a traditional looking sofa anymore:

I guess I''d better let IT guy have his laptop back now.

Great house, Holly! Congratulations! I love the couch, too, by the way.

Congratulations, Holly! I''m totally with you on the providential arranging of events! This is a terrific time to buy, and we have an offer in on a foreclosed house ourselves. But like you, I trust that we''ll get a new one if we''re meant to!

Congrats on the house.

Traditional sofas galore. Built to last the rest of your life. Purchased in ''93, I''ve recovered mine - not because the fabric was ratty, but just because it was outdated and I wanted something new, and the style and frame were so classic and durable, I couldn''t bring myself to get rid of it and buy new. Cushions are latex with batting. They haven''t broken down yet. Not inexpensive, but worth every penny. Best sofa I''ve ever had.

Thanks, Karen!

And thanks for the link. I will definitely be perusing that website.

Congrats on the house, Holly-it looks great.

We''re closing on our place in about 2 weeks so right now I''m doing the same thing as you I bet-picking out paint colors, a new couch, etc.!

We, fortunately, like the paint color in living/dining/bedrooms. The kitchen is white, but so is our fridge, so that''s okay, too.

DH and I don''t quite mesh on furniture, though. *sigh* I hate to say it, but he''s boring.

After living with a ''country cottage'' vibe for so long, I find I really want a more sophisticated, grown up decor. He''s completely linear - - if it''s Mission style, it''s perfect. I prefer to mix my styles to create a look that is completely my own. But everything I think looks good, he''s very "Meh" about.

I got past the house selection process with him; now if I can just find some furniture he''ll agree to, this marriage may survive.

That''s good on the paint-I hate pretty much every single color in my soon to be house so we will be painting a lot! Luckily my husband and I like most of the same paint/furniture/house stuff...and everything else I just wear him down on!

I can''t wait to see how you end up decorating everything! You''ll have to post some pics when it''s all done up!

Inspection was this morning. Some minor plumbing issues, A/C servicing, some regrouting of outside brick on garage side. Overall, he was impressed it was in such good condition.

Discovered that I have some custom cabinet features like a pull out cutting board, and cookie sheet/tray storage above the wall oven.

Measured for blinds; of course none of the windows is exactly the size of any other window. Makes blind buying so much more fun that way.

We''re that much closer to closing!

Yay Holly. I bet you and your hubby can''t wait to move in. I would be so darn excited.

Congrats on getting a great deal! Your new house is lovely. I love the ceiling beams and the arches.

We are both dreaming in our sleep about the house. Furniture, decor, moving, "Money Pit" scenarios. . . the gamut! We''re exhausted, and I think we will remain so until after the move.
