Ok, so at least 4 people at work have gotten engaged since August, and they have some truly stunning rings!! I really want to ask to take pictures to post, but how do I do that without sounding like some sort of weirdo? Anyone else ever run into this problem?

Hmm.
I took pics of other ladys' diamonds at our GTG - and I'M A GUY!

First start up a conversation complimenting their rings.
Then tell them how passionate you are about diamonds.
I'll bet they'd be flattered and let you take pics, as long as you don't ask to take their rings home with you.

I mean it's not like you are asking to take pics of their undergarments or something kinky.
I'd not ask them to remove it, but would hope they would to get a better pic.
Oh and bring some isopropyl alcohol, a toothbrush and Q-Tips, of course.

Never leave home without it.

I wouldn't be too worried about being pervieved as a wierdo.
I obviously don't.

You just have to be yourself and honest about your passion and people will be comfortable around you.

So, asking to loupe it might be stepping over the line?

They all know i''m a nut about diamonds... I''ll just have to bring up PS and maybe recruit some new members!

Well, asking to loupe it may make them nervous.
They may be thinking you are going to see the inclusions in a diamond that they picked because it was the largest eye-clean diamond they could afford.

Asking to loupe it may terrify such an owner.
You'll discover it's not IF.

I''d like to take pics of my Moms rings and post but havent dared ask. Her and my Dad will think that someone, somehow
will track them down to their house and steal my Mom''s jewels. Her jewels are nice but they''re not that nice!

I''m sure they''d be flattered about a little photo shoot!

TyTy - if I were not a PS member, and someone asked me I would probably be all paranoid and feel the same as your parents...lol but now I think I''d be flattered

You can offer to give them the link to your post and assure them no one will have a clue who they are or where to find their rings.
