I don't know what you do with that, as a person. I mean, you are who you are... but all of the sudden you aren't entirely. How sad. And it all could have been avoided if someone had just listened to the mother.

There was a profile on This American Life last year with a similar situation. The mother of one of the girls knew and her husband convinced her to keep the baby and not go to the "trouble" of switching them back! This was when there were still infants if memory serves me correctly. The truth finally came out years and years later and the adjustment and impact has been huge on the women.

It is amazing to me that we are still hearing stories like this. Makes me wonder how many times it''s happened and not been discovered.

That is so heartbreaking... because even though it is hindsight, you can''t help but wonder what your life would have been like... and then to think of how much we identify with our families... WOW.
