Are you a glass is half empty or glass is half full type person? In all situations or in specific situations?

Optimist...always.

Optimist for the most part.

Glass half full!! My DH is the glass half empty one...I have work to do!

Realistic.

I'm not really either, I tend to be a very fact-oriented, look at both sides kinda person. To me it's just half a glass of milk.

I am a disgustingly cheerful, happy, optimistic person.

My bf''s nickname for me is "Ms. BrightSide of the Road"
My nickname for him is "Mr. Personal StormCloud"

Ditto... unless it is beer... I tend to top those off so quickly it is either full OR empty! then back to full again!

I will say, though, that when it comes to my relationship I''m so terrified I''m going to fall into the "Love is all we need" trap that I''m super analytical and practical. So where most people are all warm and fuzzy, I make lists like "If he can''t happily do x, y, and z this won''t work and it''s best to cut my losses so that one of us doesn''t end up resenting the other one in 20 years and getting a horrible divorce." So while in all other things, I am a silver lining kind of person, I''m much more prone to see the storm cloud approaching when it comes to relationships.

I see things at face value. So I dont think I''m one way or the other.

I''m too cautious to be considered a full-fledged optimist. I usually don''t like taking risks, and I have to ask a million questions and get others'' opinions before making decisions. I worry about everything as well. I suppose that would make me a pessimist. I do have a very bright cheerful, and happy side though...I swear!

For me, it totally depends on the situation at hand.

I would have to say the same goes for me too.

Kinda of kidding. That''s what my husband says to me, but in my defense, he is overly optimistic and has to be brought back to earth sometimes.

Even though I''m an optimist, I''m not a head in the clouds, all is right in the world person. I''m also a realist. I''m a researcher and can be fact-oriented depending on the situation (what brought me to PS). I don''t think optimism means naive.

Eternal optimist.

I don''t think optimism means naive
I totally agree!

Overall - - optimist.

Things that are within my control = optimistic

Things outside my control = I prepare for the worst, am pleased/grateful if things are better, and look for advantages in adversity.

I think that makes me pragmatic?

Interesting question. I'm a pretty big worrier. However, I'd say that overall my outlook on life has always been optimistic. Hard to reconcile.

Relatively pessimistic. I prepare for the worst--then I can be pleasantly surprised when it doesn''t happen

I am an eternal optimist - no matter what things can only get better :)

I would say that this describes me as well.

When things aren''t in my control I think I lean more toward the pessimism side though.

An optimist... usually

doesn''t mean I don''t enjoy a good vent fest!

So true. Optimists still get annoyed and angry.
