Only a man would consider this an acceptable solution.

I thought you guys could use a laugh.

We wanted to grow catnip and keep the cats out of it so it could grow. So, hanging pots on the patio were the solution we came up with. There were no attractive options. But I can live with them.

But then when we got them home DH realized we couldn't water them if we hung them up too high. So, DH came up with a solution.

I'm going to the hardware store and getting some chain. Or rope. Or well... anything.

But meantime. This is what's actually on my balcony. Thanks to my DH.

LOL - he certainly is resourceful!

What lucky kitties! They're going to love the fresh catnip!

 That's clever though!

Recourceful. ::) That's one word for it.

Ha! That is TOTALLY something mine would rig up. Fantastic. Props to J and hope it looks prettier soon!

that's something my husband would do. Then, when I brought home the permanent 'something' he wouldn't understand why I would want to change it. (I had to harass him for weeks to help me hang curtain rods in our bedroom a few years ago. He complained throughout the project, only to grumble after, 'it does look better."

looks good to me... :appl:

 Classy, Gypsy. Maybe you could also hang laundry off of it like socks or bras.

Hahahahaha! Oh, boy.

At least he could have twisted them or braided them or something! Macrame? I laugh but usually it's *me* who's "creatively" rigging things shoddily around here. Chain sounds good! Or there are also "S" shaped extending hooks of several different sizes, usually between $1-4 each. We have a hummingbird feeder hanging from one.

I'm laughing here. Not least because I *may* have done exactly this thing in my porch, with a pendant motor for jewellery making. It was too high for me to reach the on switch....

   Total 'guy brain' solution! A woman would have purchased a designer plant stand, agonized over where to put it, moved it a few times then returned it for the other one at the store in the alternate colour!

Maybe they have something there.....

Lol, awesome :D

Hahahaha I love the way husbands think!

That is CLASSIC male. I love it. Too funny!!!

That is EXACTLY what I was going to post.

Men Rock! :wavey:

LOL, not only would I have done something like this--I would have found a way to incorporate some duct tape into the project AND used some power tools to get it all set up!

(I think I was a man in a former life!)

Love it! And I probably would have just left it that way, so I'm no better.

And I second the duct tape.

Love it, that's something dh would do.

hey, it works! :D

 My DH did the same thing with a bird feeder!

I don't see the problem, it looks good to me!

I think it's Art.

Gypsy, you just have hangups, dear. ;))

My solution would have involved these:

 I did something similar w/ old telephone cords instead of hangers... the SO was not amused.

I'm surprised he used hangers. :) You know how men love duct tape. :twirl:

Great thread. So many memories evoked!

Thanks for the photo, Gypsy. It works. :naughty:

Yes, they make decorative chain to hang plants from, so there must be lots of people who prefer not to use coat hangers. :wavey:
