We don''t have a huge guest list (approximately 65 invitations went out to 120 guests), but those that we did invite are fairly young and computer savvy. So I thought it would be "modern" and environmentally conscious/efficient/no-fuss to allow our guests the option of RSVPing online through our wedding website. For tradition''s sake, we did include RSVP cards and envelopes with our invitations. But the first thing everyone sees as they pull out the contents of the invitation envelope...is..."For Our Wedding Details...RSVP online...etc etc". I honestly thought people would embrace the online RSVP option. Don''t need to go through the trouble of writing anything, keeping track of the card and envelope, save a stamp.

But EVERYONE is sending their RSVP cards! Some RSVP online AND send in the response card. I guess it is still early, but I''m befuddled.

How are you being environmentally conscious if you still used the paper for the RSVP cards? just curious

People probably just want to be proper and not that person who didn''t send in their card. I would think more people would use the online choice though, so I totally see your puzzlement!

It''s recycled paper (but not the invitation itself...that might be fancy stuff)! And it is 2 ounces less that the post office has to ship. I''m a big believer in every little bit helps. You know...if everyone who received a wedding invitation stopped sending their responses by mail, it''ll save so and so much fuel. In any case...it was a total failure

maybe they felt they had to do both. I mean I would probably assume you would want both since u included the paper rsvp as well...just a thought

I thought the same thing then my planner talked me out of it... so I passed on the online RSVPs... she said people tend to like the traditional snail mail way of doing things. Also my other friend said getting the cards in the mail is fun (and it has been to a degree!). Anyways if I would have done the online RSVP I would have not included the rsvp cards and envelopes. It''s definitely confusing. Probably better to steer people one way or the other.

My daughter went with the snail mail invitations and exclusively online RSVP. It actually worked really well. There were only two duplicates, one being her Grandmother (my side). She RSVP'ed for her and my StepDad but put her name in each one. I think one other person did that as well, but out of 175 invites, I thought that was really successful. Surprisingly, we even received the regrets RSVP that I was worried about not getting and having to follow up with them to confirm. We only had to call 5 people.

I was skeptical at first, but now I am soooo happy she did it that way. It was so easy for us to create the spreadsheet for attendees and food choice. It was built into the site.

I highly recommend it for people who have primarily younger and computer savvy guests/family.

I think it could confuse the guests to have both options. My Mom would be one of the ones who would RSVP online and send the snail mail RSVP.

wow, sorry to hear that didn''t work out. i was hoping to use online RSVP as well.. maybe i just won''t give them the option of RSVP cards and see what happens...

I''m glad to hear the snail mail invite with RSVP online worked so well for your daughter Miracles because that is what we intend to do!

It''s not usual to include RSVP cards in the UK, so we put our website address on the STD and my parents address on the invitation.

My parents friends and some of ours sent written responses (there is a set text for accepting/declining invitations over here) and most of our friends either replied on line or just emailed me.

There were about 4 people we had to chase, but that was expected...
