Well, 32 days. Close enough!
I feel like I've been neglecting PS for the past few weeks, but we've just been SO busy that I haven't found the time to do much other than pop in here and there to read a post or two. I hope nobody was looking for me! (is it vain of me to think that's a possibility?
). I figured I would start this thread to give an update on how things are going, list what's left to do, and hopefully get some help thinking of what I might be missing. ETA: I'm sorry what follows is so long!!
Perhaps most exciting, we FINALLY booked our honeymoon. We're going to Maui!! I CANNOT wait. We're spending the first 3 nights at this Japanese style resort complete with Japanese spas, then 7 nights at a condo up at Kapalua, and then we'll make the drive to Hana and spend 2 nights at a bed and breakfast there before heading home. 12 nights in paradise with my DH. We bid on priceline and got a convertible rental car for the price of something much more boring, found the condo on www.vrbo.com for a great price and it has RIDICULOUSLY fabulous views, and got a steal on the Japanese resort (also by bidding on priceline). I can't wait!!!
I also had my first dress fitting the end of last month. I decided to go to Hannah, this lady that all the Detroit knotties RAVE about, even though she's over an hour away from me. She was as good as they said and gave me so much confidence that when she started to cut the hem right then and there I didn't even flinch. She's doing the hem, bustle, darting the bust (over a ton of beading and some boning, mind you), and taking it in almost the whole length of the back zipper, for the total sum of $200. AND, she's thinks it should be ready for me to take home when I go back Sept 3rd. Once I try it on she'll touch up the pressing and pack it up for me to take home. And, just in case there are any adjustments needed, she's blocked out all the appointments after me and will make the changes while I wait - just so I don't have to make the drive more than twice. She's a true sweetheart and so proud of her work. I have to apologize, because I was so excited to see my dress all pinned and hemmed that I forgot I had my camera in my bag. So, no pics. Ooops.
Let's see, what else? I dropped my shoes off on the way home from my fitting to get them dyed (baby blue!) - I hope they call soon to say they're done I ordered my garter belt and panties, and they match my corset perfectly (they're all ivory satin, with lace on the panties and garter belt). I ordered, but haven't received yet, my stockings - nude leg with ivory lace tops. DH (not FI by the time he seems them!) is going to go NUTS.
Oh, and after seeing Courtney's teaser pic, I HAD to go back and order a down the back dangle I saw a while back to wear on my necklace. We got the groomsmen gifts (crazy swiss army tool things - FI wants one for himself, now), and I bought FI's wedding gift. It's a tungsten watch that will match his tungsten wedding band. I got my rings resized (they fit SO much better now!), and FI's ring just came back from being engraved with a message he won't see until after the ceremony. Oh, I got our initials and wedding date engraved on the back of his watch, too. We also just ordered a silver band for me to wear when it isn't safe to wear my real wedding set (like on the beach in Maui).
We finally picked hors d'oeuvres, made reservations for the rehearsal dinner, have most of our songs picked out, just started sending off the first of many more final payments to vendors, filled out the detailed info form for the photographer, did the first draft of the timeline for the day-of coordinator, got our ceremony mostly worked out, I had my bridal shower and have a little over half the thank yous written and sent, and a decent chunk of our RSVPs have come in.
What scares me is the to-do list:
Favors - we're thinking boxes of candy plus recipe cards for each of our favorite cookies. We were originally going to bake the cookies, but I don't see us having time for that. I need to find boxes, ribbon to decorate them, and buy some bulk candy. I also need to design and print the recipe cards.
Table names - we're going to use the names of place around town that mean something to us. I just need to actually design the cards.
Final dress fitting
Meet with florist
Fill out song forms and talk with DJ
Make a card box (probably just going to use wrapping paper and a cardboard box)
Seating chart and escort cards
Write our personalized vows (we're saying a few words to each other that will be secret until the ceremony, followed by saying the same vows we've already picked out)
Send ceremony script to officiant
Make ceremony programs
Get DJ and guitarist talking about speaker setup at the reception
Make copies of all our contracts for the coordinator
Meet with the coordinator
Phone appt w/ photographer tomorrow
Make a photo book with our engagement photos to use as a guest book
Find a cooler or tub to put bottled water in for our guests at the ceremony - buy bottled water
Get our marriage license
Find a clutch to stash my touch-up makeup, ID, etc in
Figure out bridesmaid gifts
Schedule manicures for me and the girls the day before the wedding
Figure out lots of other details (like how our bags are getting to the wedding-night hotel)
PHEW. Now the question is, What am I forgetting???
