...how many of you are going to Limerick today?!?
2.gif

For those not in the know, it is illegal to sell alcohol in Ireland on Good Friday. However there is a big rugby match on in Limerick between Munster and Leinster (the east province and the west province of Ireland), so the crowds will be huge. Some smart arses made a case for health and safety - they said having that many people on the streets drinking home-brought alcohol and arguing over who was the better team would be dangerous, therefore the pubs should be allowed to open, just this once, to house and control the masses. Therefore, Limerick is the only city in Ireland today where pubs are open and alcohol is being sold.

From what the traffic reports are telling me, the whole country is descending on Limerick today! Madness!!

Hahahaha. That''s totally awesome.

Agreed!

If I lived in Ireland I would TOTALLY not go to Limerick today. I would stay at home and drink in protest of the ridiculous law in the comfort of my own surroundings so as not to be disturbed by the raucous crowd.

CT doesn''t allow you to buy alcohol on Sundays or holidays (or after 9pm). I drink on all of those occasions to show my displeasure with their laws

I know, it's a completely ridiculous law. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of it.

The law doesn't apply to the sale of alcohol on boats, trains, or to hotel residents. People often get on the ferry to Wales and just go over and back all day getting drunk, or get a return train to the opposite end of the country and settle in for the day. Great laugh.

Le sigh...neither does IN. Stupid blue laws.

And I join you in drinking on the days (oh, election days are affected here as well--DUMB) you can''t buy it.

I''m not- staying put in Dublin!! Some of the pubs are allowed to open up here too but they''re just not allowed to sell booze. We''re all heading to the pub to watch the match. Come on Leinster!!

I have heard it all now.

The only thing I care less about than a person not being able to drink themself stupid, is a person not being able to drink themself stupid while watching sports.

Man, I wish! I''m a Georgia girl, so if anyone understands the link between booze and sporting events, ya know?! Love me some college football. Wish I could just head out to Limerick--sounds to me like it''d be a blast!

Hello, Irish Pricescopers!

Scottish girl over here, from Irish decent I am proud to add!

If I was there, it sounds like Limerick is the place to be!

If it all proves too unbearable, arrange to come to Glasgow next Good Friday and we can have a PS get together. I am sure my fellow Scots, Mrs Mitchell and Po will join in! Also some of our southern counter parts may also venture north for the event!!

You are all most welcome!!

Gah well I''ll hand it to ye lads, ye were the better team in fairness, especially in the second half. I suppose since we had it last year, ye can have it this year.

But then we''ll want it back

Leinster won, for those that weren''t watching. 15-16.

Susan, a drunken PS GTG next year sounds fabulous

hahaha yeah, and I don''t know about you lot, but I am an unreal dancer with a bit of drink in me. Can''t figure out why I haven''t been asked to join Kanye''s troupe yet

What silly laws.... Texas has some silly ones. Can''t buy any alcohol before noon on Sunday (my question is when does that rule START...) our county is "dry"-ish too so we can''t buy hard liquor in county limits in stores but you can still get it at the bar... what the logic is in that I''ll never know.

There''s also some law that has to do with the % alcohol in products sold at certain times...

bunch of hooey if you ask me.

I am game!

We just have to rope in a few others now!
