A few more pictures coming... later. I''m off to my niece''s high school graduation. Thanks for the wonderful comments.

Congratulations to you niece!

And I *squealed* with delight at these pictures, Treefrog! You nabbed some pretty fabulous shots and I''m just in awe over here!

treefrog, have you thought of entering this contest? I think you have a winner there.

Here''s the last fawn picture I have. I hope to go back for a day maybe next week when there are more babies and some of the others are a little bigger. It was pretty early in the fawn season when I went.

Oh TF, these are just adorable!!! You just be truly stealth and/or have a great camera to get such amazing close-ups of these deer because I know how skittish they are. Looking forward to more of your pics!

This is a tough shot... looking into the sun but I like it. It makes me ask myself "Do deer wonder about things?"

zSNP0003.jpg

I don''t know what this is but it looked interesting. Maybe Gailey knows?

The morning sun was just beaming off these wildflowers in the meadow.

Last picture then I''ll get to your comments. Sunrise and a special treat for getting up long before daybreak, lugging a camera and tripod around, and swatting at flies with my feet soaking wet from the damp grass:

Love the deer pics, TF. I wish I could scan and upload every one of the pics my mother has taken over the years of the herds at my parents'' home in Indiana. My dad keeps track of all the babies that cross their acreage and it''s a really big deal to them that the families survive and stick together. The moms and babies typically feed in the front pastures in the evenings and then come up to the orchard (close to the house) to get sweet treats later, and they have a salt block out for them as well. It''s lovely and I wish my parents would stay there forever.
Thanks Monarch! I wish you could scan them too! It sounds like there are quite a few there and I bet they have some good pictures. Most people with property hate deer because they eat so much vegetation. Sounds like your parents really look after them.

They have ~65 acres of wooded paradise...the house itself is on a 7 acre lot so no, they don''t worry too much about the deer causing problems. They do feed off a couple of apple trees on the southwest side of the house, and they have a salt block, but other than that they are just peaceful creatures.

I''ll be going over on Father''s Day so I''ll try to round up some snapshots then and see if I can get them posted in a thread for you.

Your photog skills are much more artistic than my mother''s, but hers are usually not too awful.

Great pics, TF! I live less than 30 min. from the Shenandoah National Park. There is some beautiful country here
1.gif
Thanks Marian. Wow, 30 minutes. I''m jealous! Yes, it is beautiful. I only saw a little piece of the park but it''s truly a spectacular place... and the road going through there is amazing. I entered through Thornton Pass. Some of the roads had such severe curves in it, I had to actually look out my driver''s side window to see where I was going! Does your location have anything to do with your user name?

I love the picture with the trees, it''s so ethereal. The perky deer picture is another favorite of mine. You really take beautiful pictures and those deers are so precious.
One of my favorites as well. I just loved how it framed the deer in there. Thank you.

Beautiful; thank you for posting.

I''m luck enough to live surrounded by national forestry so see deer most days but they scamper off before I could ever look as closely as that. Well done!
Thanks Steal. Most scamper off for me as well but sometimes, I get lucky. I have lots of blurry pictures and pictures of deer rear ends to go along with these. Hey... wait a minute. There''s a word for that, isn''t there... "deerierre"! That''s what I see in most of my pictures!

Thanks for the generous compliment. I am so glad you love them. Obviously I do too. I truly feel fortunate that I''m able to take time off from work and be able to go out for 2 days and come back with treasures like this to share.

Thanks vc10um. I''m not sure how many careers there are in text messaging so she''s off to community college now until she figures out what''s next.

Taking a 25MB picture and shrinking it down into a <100kb picture never does an image any favors but there was enough that they looked decent. I''m glad you liked them. Thanks so much for the comments!

Thanks Dee*Jay. I have a really good camera and my pictures usually require a lot of stealth and a tremendous amount of patience. In all honesty, however, the deer aren''t terribly skittish in this area of Shenandoah National Park.

treefrog you catch nature at it''s best... Hoping one day there is a place where I can order your prints...

Thank you Kaleigh. I wish there was a way for it to be profitable. I don''t have a site to point you to and I''m pretty certain it would be against the forum rules anyway. You''ll just have to enjoy them here! Or, do a search on Flickr or something for fawns at Big Meadows. You''ll find bazillions of fawn pictures.

These are incredible, Treefrog! You should definitely enter contests or send them to papers, magazines, etc. Maybe start your own photography business (even as a side job). I love the images you capture!

Great pictures!! Love them!!
