Thanks Monarch! I wish you could scan them too! It sounds like there are quite a few there and I bet they have some good pictures. Most people with property hate deer because they eat so much vegetation. Sounds like your parents really look after them.Date: 6/4/2010 11:24:40 PM

Love the deer pics, TF. I wish I could scan and upload every one of the pics my mother has taken over the years of the herds at my parents'' home in Indiana. My dad keeps track of all the babies that cross their acreage and it''s a really big deal to them that the families survive and stick together. The moms and babies typically feed in the front pastures in the evenings and then come up to the orchard (close to the house) to get sweet treats later, and they have a salt block out for them as well. It''s lovely and I wish my parents would stay there forever.
They have ~65 acres of wooded paradise...the house itself is on a 7 acre lot so no, they don''t worry too much about the deer causing problems. They do feed off a couple of apple trees on the southwest side of the house, and they have a salt block, but other than that they are just peaceful creatures.Date: 6/7/2010 11:39:28 AM

Amazing, treefrog - they''re absolutely precious.
Thanks Marian. Wow, 30 minutes. I''m jealous! Yes, it is beautiful. I only saw a little piece of the park but it''s truly a spectacular place... and the road going through there is amazing. I entered through Thornton Pass. Some of the roads had such severe curves in it, I had to actually look out my driver''s side window to see where I was going! Does your location have anything to do with your user name?Date: 6/5/2010 12:19:28 AM

Great pics, TF! I live less than 30 min. from the Shenandoah National Park. There is some beautiful country here![]()
One of my favorites as well. I just loved how it framed the deer in there. Thank you.Date: 6/5/2010 1:24:28 AM

I love the picture with the trees, it''s so ethereal. The perky deer picture is another favorite of mine. You really take beautiful pictures and those deers are so precious.
Thanks Kenny. Great comment coming from an incredible macro shrimp photographer such as yourself.Date: 6/5/2010 1:35:57 AM

Oh my goodness. What a sweetie. I love baby deer!
Thanks Steal. Most scamper off for me as well but sometimes, I get lucky. I have lots of blurry pictures and pictures of deer rear ends to go along with these. Hey... wait a minute. There''s a word for that, isn''t there... "deerierre"! That''s what I see in most of my pictures!Date: 6/5/2010 8:32:21 AM

Beautiful; thank you for posting.
I''m luck enough to live surrounded by national forestry so see deer most days but they scamper off before I could ever look as closely as that. Well done!
I agree. Thank you.Date: 6/5/2010 9:57:15 AM

I''ll be going over on Father''s Day so I''ll try to round up some snapshots then and see if I can get them posted in a thread for you.Your photog skills are much more artistic than my mother''s, but hers are usually not too awful.![]()

treefrog, have you thought of entering this contest? I think you have a winner there.
Thanks Dee*Jay. I have a really good camera and my pictures usually require a lot of stealth and a tremendous amount of patience. In all honesty, however, the deer aren''t terribly skittish in this area of Shenandoah National Park.Date: 6/7/2010 11:20:09 AM

Oh TF, these are just adorable!!! You just be truly stealth and/or have a great camera to get such amazing close-ups of these deer because I know how skittish they are. Looking forward to more of your pics!
Thank you Kaleigh. I wish there was a way for it to be profitable. I don''t have a site to point you to and I''m pretty certain it would be against the forum rules anyway. You''ll just have to enjoy them here! Or, do a search on Flickr or something for fawns at Big Meadows. You''ll find bazillions of fawn pictures.Date: 6/4/2010 11:09:51 PM
