Help!!! any one in the same category???
Ever since i found out about PS (1 month ago, maybe), i have been soooooo "obssessed/ addicted" to it....I check it like every 5 minutes...uggh!

Has this happened to any of you PS'ers out there----now, BE HONEST!!!!

The next question is - does it get better?????

LOL, I think you'll be OK. Whenever I have slow moments I always go to PS and check what's happening. It's entertaining, informative and most of all who on PS doesn't love bling?! My advice is to enjoy it for what it is, take what info you need but don't let it start affecting your everyday real life interactions. In other words, don't let it become an unhealthy obsession. Enjoy!! :wavey:

I think that it was like that in the beginning for many of us. Now, like missy, I check when I have nothing else going on or when I'm wanting to see if anyone has any new pieces to share. Don't worry...it will calm down once you've had your fill! :cheeky:

Coming up on two year membership mark...still obsessed

I have my moments... :wink2:

I completely used to be. Then I realized I was buying things because I could, not because I really wanted to. I've parted with almost all of my collection and now come to PS only when I have a project I am working on. I strongly respect PSers experience and opinions and rely on them to help vet my choices.

Are you me? Because, yep, that's exactly what happened. I tell myself it's beneficial and informative. :loopy:

LOL--"any"??? How 'bout ALL!

I do go through cycles where I'm on more or less, but I find this forum to be such a great resource (e.g., people are helping me through a car buying process in another thread) and also a form of company/entertainment that I do skip through the pages a couple of times a day to see what's going on.

ETA: Not sure if you've met any PSers in person, but that also adds to the connection. I've made some great friends that I've met personally through this forum and so when I am communicating with them it's like chatting with old pals.

I used to, but it's slower than it used to be, so I'm not as addicted anymore because I am not missing as much. ::)

I've noticed this too. It seemed like before there was always a new SMTB thread or something posted everyday. But these days not so much. But, I so gotta admit I know what you mean Greg! Mine come in random moments of my life. Like right now, I admit that it's one of the first things I do in the morning and one of the last.

HOW can you stand waiting THAT long?

Same here. Back in 2009, there would be a ton of new threads on Show Me the Ring and Rocky Talky every day. If you didn't log on until later in the evening, it was hard to catch up with all the new posts!

I still love PS though, and log on daily. I'm just not as obsessed since I finally got my dream ring.

I go through my on and off periods as well. When PS is busy and hopping it is a lot of fun to check in to watch the progress of threads. A lot of the forums seem to be dying though, for example BWW is almost dead, and I always liked to visit there. Show me the Bling I visit once a week maybe? And that's enough to catch up. I'm on Rocky Talky almost every day though, and it's been pretty steady. But a lot of the posts can be answered quickly so... it's not that time consuming.

BWW used to be so fun and hopping! :(( There are hardly any new posts there now.

I check in daily but don't post much. I have taken breaks from PS many times when I don't have any jewelry projects going on. I've been more active in the last year or two because I have jewelry related questions due to the fact that I've projects more often. Most recently, I had a DBTY necklace custom made earlier this year, and just yesterday I sent a diamond off to be evaluated for a recut.

Things will calm down for you once the newness has worn off, and you're all caught up on everything. This is definitely a great site!

I too have noticed things have quieted down. I wonder if it's because the economy isn't great so people aren't buying as much bling, plus the prices have skyrocketed.

Took a break all summer to enjoy the outdoors. Seems to be boring lately.

I love PS!!! I feel like I have a whole new world of friends here - thank you all for being my cyber friends!!! :halo:

I am always logged on and pop in and out throughout the day and if I'm lucky, there are a few threads that I just might be able to contribute to - and hope that it could be useful. I really enjoy all the forums and love the SMTB threads! I just passed my first year PS anniversary (a week ago today! :appl: ) ... and sort of felt maybe DH might want to celebrate that huge milestone with a little sumpin' sumpin'... but oddly enough, it did not register or phase him!!! Sometimes, I do not 'get' non-PSers!!

Welcome Greg - hope you enjoy the forums!

I feel exactly the same! Back in the day the forums moved FAST. I had to be obsessed in order not to miss anything.

I went through a period when I checked everyday, and I bought stuff. I realized at one point that I wasn't really doing anything with what I bought, or the projects were extremely difficult to execute to my liking. After that realization, I lost interest for a while. During my sabbatical away, I realized that doing projects is a learning experience (albeit expensive), and overall I don't regret the stones I bought. I vouched to keep to classic pieces the next time, and to ensure that I have the finger coverage (for rings) that I desire.

A few weeks ago, I started visiting again, but this time more to just look at bling and learn before my next project.

How do you think I ended up with nearly 20K posts? I type too much, got broke constantly giving my 2 cents away. I have my phases when sometimes I get tired of it all and take a few days to a week off, and sometimes I am recharged and am on very often. PS has slowed down a lot, to the point that if I skip RT or CS for a day, it's easy to catch up. I can check in at SMTB once a week and still not miss a thing. It used to be that things would fly by left and right in one day alone, sometimes going several pages on the same day!

DF, actually I think the PS women keep us crazy men in line. :sun:
We are certainly outnumbered and we must submit to their demands. :naughty:

Greg, have you checked out the Pricescope Cafe/Family and Home forum yet? You might find some of the discussions there of interest!

A very astute observation, Kenny! :wink2:
