Nowadays, Am I the only person whom still carries cash in their pockets?

I usually use cards only, if I have any cash, it is <$20 in ones, for tipping.

How do you get cash @Dancing Fire ? Go inside the bank and write a check? I don't know how to get cash without an ATM card!
Yes, and ask the teller I would like to withdraw XXX $$$ from my account. I don't have a debit card either. I grew up carrying cash in my pockets before the ATM and debit cards came along.

I never have cash.
I mostly use debit/credit, but more and more Venmo

nope your not.
I rarely spend it but always carry some emergency cash with me.

I'm too lazy to get out of my car for cash!:cheeky: I do get where you're coming from DF...old habits and all that. I was in line today at
Hobby Lobby and the women in front of me wrote a check! EGads! I can't remember the last time I wrote a check for a purchase!

BTW...for anyone buying a car...when we bought my DH's car they let him put $3k of it on a credit card. Doesnt hurt to ask if
you have the funds to pay the card on the next due date (and earn a little back).

When we bought our last car, we were shocked the dealership let us put the entire price of the car on our CC. We earned mega Chase UR points from that purchase, and no interest because we paid the full charge when the bill came due.

Wow, I've never had a dealer let me put more than $5,000 on a CC when buying a car. I need your car dealer!

I carry a lot of cash.I mostly pay by credit or debit card for everything though..The cash is for Dairy Queen for David when we drive through on the way up to Maryland. I give a lot away for tipping. We’ve had lots of cable issues..I tip them…I had a repair on a dryer..I tipped him…My seasonal exterminator likes cash for a tip..When I run out I get more..The first batch was in my wallet for about a year because I wouldn’t let anyone in the house…even to fix my dryer. I did an Olivia Walton for a while hanging up my clothes to dry in Maryland when I was isolating there away from my husband for 3.5 months. In the beginning I exclusively got Instacart because I wouldn’t shop. I gave the shoppers their tips in cash so they would get extra from their employer. When I got vaccinated I started getting some repairs done..but still wearing a mask. My money flew out of my wallet then..

Did you guys haggle on the price?

I never have cash. Not because I am against it, because I have 3 teenagers!

I carry some cash for emergencies, but I rarely use it. My parents drilled that into my head, so I don't feel right if I don't carry it.

I WISH my dealer let me charge the whole car! They only let me charge $5k ;(

I Apple Pay or Venmo almost everything. I don’t know the last time I actually saw cash.

Honestly, if I can chip my finger and pay that way, I'd do it. I'm so lazy I don't even want to use my phone or cc to pay. Just play everything in my head and scan my finger.

We did, and got an even better price than we hoped. We also went all the way to MD to get the car, because it was the best price in our region (we're in NYC). This was also in 2017, pre-pandemic. I seriously wonder if they would let anyone do that now.

Koons Ford of Baltimore. They were great.

Here’s one reason I carry cash for small transactions and many meals: merchants pay a fee every time you use your credit or debit card. When I shop at a small, locally owned business, I want my money to go to that business and not to the bank or (apologies to extreme rewarders) to somebody else’s credit card rewards. I have no problem using credit cards for large purchases or at larger businesses - and obviously they’re the only choice when shopping online, which sometimes is the only choice. But I pay cash when I can in small, local businesses.

I carry cash - the nail salon prefers it! =)2

I only have cash on me if I’ve forgotten about it!

HI:

Almost never, but my DH likes cash. If I need some---I go the bank/his wallet.

cheers--Sharon

I almost never use cash. I don't even use my physical credit card. I've been using Google or Samsung pay via my watch or phone. It's nice because I get immediate notifications and it's easier for me to track my spending.

I bought a Mazda cx-5 in May for my mom and unfortunately wasn't able to put any amount on credit. However the dealership offered $2k off the msrp and Mazda took another 1k off when I paid via wire transfer.

I had to look what I had in my wallet...lol Yes I have a few ones and a couple of 20's in there. Been in there probably since the freaking pandemic started as I have not used cash since the start of it. I keep emergency cash in my Go Bag. if I don't use it not a biggie, its cash so won't go bad.

I keep cash in my purse for 2 reasons. 1. for tips and 2. for people in need or spur of the moment local fundraising.
