I think it has to do with cookies etc. I had the same problem so I deleted the history/cookies and then closer my browser and started again and got back to the old PS!Date: 5/19/2010 8:53:07 AM

Honestly, I think it is all just teething problems and I am sure (as Ella said) Andrey and the crew are more than aware of everyone''s concerns - which is why we are back at old-school PS.![]()
I must also be in the minority in that I liked it - sure, there are some things such as rollover that were clearly missing, but I''m sure (I hope) that will be added in due course.
Maybe one of the admins can answer why some of us can still see the new site? On my BB I still see the new site and there are maybe 10 PSers that only see that site on there as well. They were wondering where everyone is![]()

I heard about an elderly woman who committed suicide when Great Britain switched to the metric system from the imperial system, saying that she could just not cope. I really hope that matters do no not reach that
crisis point here. I know that when, ''The New York Times'' changed its print it was challenging for me, and the ink still gets my hands black (unlike the previous print), but I am glad that I didn''t end it all. I am sure
that if everyone holds on tight, he will find a reason to go on eventually. I wish all of you strength during these trying times.
Hugs,
Deb/AGBF

So funny; because it is true. I copy everything I write now; it is like a tick.Date: 5/19/2010 12:35:52 PM

No one likes change. I''ve yet to see one forum interface change that members were happy about.
PS1 IS clunky. Maybe for some members who just post text and a photo or two (we have some members who still don''t know how to do quite that), it''s fine, but it''s outdated. Plus people have been asking for this upgrade and that. Looks like the new site is going to give it to us. While it was very buggy, I do think it does look promising.
PS1 is an old friend who many of us have used for YEARS. People are not going to want to see it die. Most of us know it well and know how to deal with it''s quirks. I CtrlA/Ctrl+C nearly everything I do now, and that''s not even just PS...it''s everything because I am so used to doing it here.
I''m willing to give PS2 a try.

This just in: 2.0 fell into the energy field and the smoke monster ate it.
Yeah that was the one thing I actually disliked about the new version. The other things that I didn''t care for were just random buggy things that will undoubtedly not be an issue forever (I couldn''t log in, and it was really slow). I really missed the thread preview by mouseover thing though. That function is really handy.Date: 5/18/2010 7:10:13 PM

I logged onto P2 today and then could not post AT ALL. It took me back to some weird screen every single time.
And is the reply button really only at the very bottom of all the posts? That is awful.
I hate to say it, but I really, really didn''t like it. The other thing I noticed (and maybe I''m wrong), but could you not ''preview'' a thread by hovering over it like you can now? Annoying!!

I was going to say that change is hard, and it looks like Seattle Sweetheart beat me to it. I do think that once the kinks are worked out in the new version, we''ll all get used to it. Also, yesterday was the first day 2.0 was available to us, so there are bound to be problems and issues to work out. I''m sure Andrey and everyone else working on the new site are doing everything they can to take our suggestions and comments and develop something we''ll find user-friendly. It takes time though. Of course it''s frustrating not to be able to log in and/or post (it happened to me too), but I''m sure it will be okay soon. I really hope the issues with the new site doesn''t prevent people from posting by choice. I do hope that Andrey is taking people''s comments as constructive criticism, but I also think we need to be a tad more patient.
I agree, but I only posted with the intention of letting them know what kinds of glitches I was seeing, and a couple of irritating little things that could be quick fixes. It''s just software and I will roll with whatever they give us, but if the admins are willing (and able, of course) to utilize our feedback in order to make the new boards really great, I don''t see a problem with politely voicing it.

Please rest assured Andrey is working diligently on fixing the bugs. They will be fixed in due time but he will need some understanding and patience while he is working.
Also to answer the question about new features a large reason for the new forum is that the platform this forum is built on does not support many of the features that users want. So if these new features are desired, we needed to move to a new platform.
I think most of us have no problems moving to a new and better Forum Platform. The challenge is that the new look and feel - presentation layer - was not meeting the expectations of the PS community. We are requesting that we keep the existing look and feel (perhaps with a few minor changes) and upgrade the forum software in the back. The new forum skin and look and feel was really challenging for us (ignorning the performance issues and other bugs).

Weird.
It is flipping between PS 1.0 and 2.0 today.
The new one requires too much scrolling.![]()

I don''t recall who said it, but I liked it enough to save it off....
“Our dilemma is that we hate change and love it at the same time; what we really want is for things to remain the same but get better.”

This!!! I don''t love the look of the new PS, can we have what we have now, but with added features?? Why change the canvas? I get that the server is at it''s limit. But the look of the new PS, is sooooo generic... Like all the other forums out there. PS was always original, easy to navigate....Date: 5/20/2010 9:43:57 PM

I was so happy to see old PS back when I came online tonight. I couldn''t post on the new version, it was so unbelievably slow, and I really did not like the look of it.
I know everyone is working hard to make PS 2.0 the best it can be, so maybe I just need to give it a chance. I''m pretty bad with change.
My issue is that I like the look of old PS much better because it was just much simpler to read and post. I would love the added features of PS 2.0, but I didn''t like the *look* of it.

I just hope that the time spent on this old PS and the posts made aren't a waste of time and don't disappear when the new PS goes up.
