Now we are back the the old PS?

I''m so confused.

I heard about an elderly woman who committed suicide when Great Britain switched to the metric system from the imperial system, saying that she could just not cope. I really hope that matters do no not reach that

crisis point here. I know that when, "The New York Times" changed its print it was challenging for me, and the ink still gets my hands black (unlike the previous print), but I am glad that I didn't end it all. I am sure

that if everyone holds on tight, he will find a reason to go on eventually. I wish all of you strength during these trying times.

No one likes change. I''ve yet to see one forum interface change that members were happy about.

PS1 IS clunky. Maybe for some members who just post text and a photo or two (we have some members who still don''t know how to do quite that), it''s fine, but it''s outdated. Plus people have been asking for this upgrade and that. Looks like the new site is going to give it to us. While it was very buggy, I do think it does look promising.

PS1 is an old friend who many of us have used for YEARS. People are not going to want to see it die. Most of us know it well and know how to deal with it''s quirks. I CtrlA/Ctrl+C nearly everything I do now, and that''s not even just PS...it''s everything because I am so used to doing it here.

I''m willing to give PS2 a try.

This just in: 2.0 fell into the energy field and the smoke monster ate it.

Honestly, I think it is all just teething problems and I am sure (as Ella said) Andrey and the crew are more than aware of everyone''s concerns - which is why we are back at old-school PS.

I must also be in the minority in that I liked it - sure, there are some things such as rollover that were clearly missing, but I''m sure (I hope) that will be added in due course.
I did too.

Maybe one of the admins can answer why some of us can still see the new site? On my BB I still see the new site and there are maybe 10 PSers that only see that site on there as well. They were wondering where everyone is

I think it has to do with cookies etc. I had the same problem so I deleted the history/cookies and then closer my browser and started again and got back to the old PS!

So funny; because it is true. I copy everything I write now; it is like a tick.

Good riddance!

This new PS is enough to drive me over the bend.

I was in a panic again this morning when I went on and found the new version back. I can`t view pictures for some reason with the new PS. What`s a diamond lover supposed to do???

I logged onto P2 today and then could not post AT ALL. It took me back to some weird screen every single time.

And is the reply button really only at the very bottom of all the posts? That is awful.

I hate to say it, but I really, really didn''t like it. The other thing I noticed (and maybe I''m wrong), but could you not ''preview'' a thread by hovering over it like you can now? Annoying!!
Yeah that was the one thing I actually disliked about the new version. The other things that I didn''t care for were just random buggy things that will undoubtedly not be an issue forever (I couldn''t log in, and it was really slow). I really missed the thread preview by mouseover thing though. That function is really handy.

So you can link to pics on 2.0 if you have them on your own server? That''ll be really nice.

I can''t even figure out how to sign into the new PS...and when I tried to reach out and contact Admin, it wouldn''t let me...I''m really "ugh" about the new one.

I was going to say that change is hard, and it looks like Seattle Sweetheart beat me to it. I do think that once the kinks are worked out in the new version, we''ll all get used to it. Also, yesterday was the first day 2.0 was available to us, so there are bound to be problems and issues to work out. I''m sure Andrey and everyone else working on the new site are doing everything they can to take our suggestions and comments and develop something we''ll find user-friendly. It takes time though. Of course it''s frustrating not to be able to log in and/or post (it happened to me too), but I''m sure it will be okay soon. I really hope the issues with the new site doesn''t prevent people from posting by choice. I do hope that Andrey is taking people''s comments as constructive criticism, but I also think we need to be a tad more patient.

I agree, but I only posted with the intention of letting them know what kinds of glitches I was seeing, and a couple of irritating little things that could be quick fixes. It''s just software and I will roll with whatever they give us, but if the admins are willing (and able, of course) to utilize our feedback in order to make the new boards really great, I don''t see a problem with politely voicing it.

Octavia -- I wasn''t directing my comments at anyone specific. I was just putting myself in Andrey''s and the other folks'' shoes when I replied.

Sorry, Zoe, I know you weren''t directing it at me -- what I meant was that my post (and I think many of the others) didn''t necessarily come from impatience, but from thinking the admins might want to know what kind of problems users were experiencing and what features we might like them to try to implement in the new software. That way, they could try to address those things before taking it live again. For example, if they didn''t know about the "community agreement" login screen problem, they might not know to look into it. Basically, I think many of us were trying to be helpful, not to attack or put pressure on the people working on the conversion.

maybe i''m the odd ball out, but i''m pretty excited about 2.0!

Octavia -- gotcha! I agree as well!

I''m not a fan of change at all, but I''m sure we''ll all get used to the new version. I wasn''t able to log onto it at all so haven''t been able to have a look around. I''ll really miss PS version 1 though. I love the layout of it.

Posted a long post but got eaten Bah!. Basically said didn''t like the new version as much. Can''t hover over and see first line, the posts are spaced to have to scroll forever to get through posts. Sure the chatty parts are hidden to highlight the diamond consumer aspect, but again makes less enjoyable to browse. Just my opinion.

Please rest assured Andrey is working diligently on fixing the bugs. They will be fixed in due time but he will need some understanding and patience while he is working.

Also to answer the question about new features a large reason for the new forum is that the platform this forum is built on does not support many of the features that users want. So if these new features are desired, we needed to move to a new platform.

I think most of us have no problems moving to a new and better Forum Platform. The challenge is that the new look and feel - presentation layer - was not meeting the expectations of the PS community. We are requesting that we keep the existing look and feel (perhaps with a few minor changes) and upgrade the forum software in the back. The new forum skin and look and feel was really challenging for us (ignorning the performance issues and other bugs).

Ditto.

I just don''t deal very well with change. Perhaps I need to try harder to embrace change.

Weird.

It is flipping between PS 1.0 and 2.0 today.

The new one requires too much scrolling.

Hey, now's your chance to say something that will soon vanish.

Now, haven't you always wanted to tell me what you really think of me?
39.gif

Sure, Kenny. I'll say what I've always thought of you. You're my "type". You know what I mean without me having to go into detail that might get me nominated. I'm sorry. I meant moderated.
6.gif

However, I always feel (but I'm making an exception because this is my chance!) that I should always behave with restraint and dignity in my online relations with you because we each have partners. I'm not saying I have a crush on you. I'm just saying I don't feel like I can open up with you or joke with you sometimes because it wouldn't be right for people in relationships to act like that. Therefore, thus, alas, alack, and etc. (
26.gif
) I think about you as kind of a cool older brother who I can't spend as much time with as I'd like because he's more grown up and has more grown up friends.

OMG, does that make any sense at all? In any case, you know where you can find me if you want to talk about diamonds, or cameras, or forums, or life.

As far as the new pricescope, man, is it only me, and my middle aged eyes, or is having every single thread in its own huge blue box separated by white space, and then scrolling down more white space, and then another big, blue box makes scrolling through thread titles so much hard to see and concentrate for these middle aged eyes. I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth but I LOVE the OLD FORMAT. The new one will be much more difficult for me to use personally. Not that I'm not grateful for the improvements, just for my middle aged self "too much scrolling".

Now I don't know if this is going to vanish, but God I hope so.

I don''t recall who said it, but I liked it enough to save it off....

I just don''t deal very well with change.

+1

Let me please reiterate that we are still working out kinks which include spacing, rollover, organization, etc. please just be patient with us as we transition to the new forum.

We needed to make this switch as we were beginning to hit many limitations with the old forum software and site design. Things like the server issues and problems with subscribing to threads are a result of us outgrowing this forum.

While we know that no one likes change we are confident that this change is in the best interest of PS and once the kinks are worked out the new forum will have many more features than the current one. Just sit tight please.

I have no problems with change, especially ones that are for the better.

hehe danny
31.gif
that was actually really sweet, but I think you should let it all hang out for our amusement

Danny, you won''t get moderated for liking someone who gives Octavias.

Haha yes!!! lol

I will embrace the changes when they come. it will be hard, but I am sure that the PS staff has everyone in their best interest.

With that said, I really would like the roll over feature to stay the same :) thanks :D :P

I was so happy to see old PS back when I came online tonight. I couldn''t post on the new version, it was so unbelievably slow, and I really did not like the look of it.

I know everyone is working hard to make PS 2.0 the best it can be, so maybe I just need to give it a chance. I''m pretty bad with change.

My issue is that I like the look of old PS much better because it was just much simpler to read and post. I would love the added features of PS 2.0, but I didn''t like the *look* of it.

This!!! I don''t love the look of the new PS, can we have what we have now, but with added features?? Why change the canvas? I get that the server is at it''s limit. But the look of the new PS, is sooooo generic... Like all the other forums out there. PS was always original, easy to navigate....

I just hope that the time spent on this old PS and the posts made aren''t a waste of time and don''t disappear when the new PS goes up.

Of course! Good archives and a good search function were among the things a lot of us said that we wanted when we used the suggestion box feature that allowed us to have input into how Pricescope 2.0 would

be structured! I know Andrey was trying to accomodate us, not hurt us!!!
