I could reply in the same way I always did, by clicking on the upper right of someone''s response... not sure what you all are referring to?
I bet it will carry over to when they go back to the 2.0 version once the bugs are worked out.Date: 5/18/2010 8:44:26 PM

Hallelujah! We''re back to normal.
I really, really, really did not like the new version. SillyBerry wrote a lovely post explaining things wrong with the site that I seconded mightily ... three or four iterations ago. My short version:
1) Too slow
2) Too contrasty
3) Wherefore my rollover?
4) Wherefore my sign-in key, and my reply button?
I could go on. What I am left with is ... if it ain''t broke, why fix it?

Aren't we being a tad rude?
I mean we are guests here.
It is their site to do with as they please.
I'm sure they put a lot of work into 2.0.
I say, feel free to make suggestions but don't whine too loudly.
My 2 cents.
Now go ahead and kill me; I'll don my fire-proof flame suit.
And while I'm at it, here's my suggestion, allow PMs.
Not being rude if we post with kindness, etc,,,Date: 5/18/2010 10:00:41 PM

I agree this site works, but there are plenty of improvements that can be made. Especially for us Mac people. The new site was much more mac friendly,...

I have a mac and I''m curious.
What did you feel was more mac-friendly?

I was the first post recommendations to improve v2.0 since we are the community and can help improve it. To be honest, I would happy just staying with the old PS and not upgrading. The new version almost makes me less inclined to post. Ignoring the technical challenges with 2.0, the design was executed very poorly. It is not as professional as the old version and using it was painful.
My thoughts are to keep the old design but upgrade certain features as highlighted in the suggestions forum.
1. Keep the user experience and interface design of the old Pricescope. The new one was blah - really bad usability.
2. Keep the Diamond section on the personal profile of v2.0 but we should be able to specify the diamond shape and link to a thread if one existed.
3. Improve the search capabilities. Ours doesn''t work too well right now.
4. v2.0 appeared to have some sort of PM capability - I would love to see that come in.
5. Upgrade the forum to a leading forum software such as vBulletin - better search will come with that.
6. Slight update to the banner logo and perhaps the color scheme (but definitely not that crazy bright blue of v2.0 - maybe a pale blue and grey)
7. Make sure the forum width is dynamic to accommodate smaller screen sizes and lower resolutions.
8. Make sure the developer actually knows how to work with stylesheets - skills seemed weak based on the end result.
I think the migration of content was done well.

I guess I''m in the minority...I liked the new modern look of the new version! There were some GREAT features I noticed just when I was clicking around (before it went into turtle speed) that I''m excited to see be used. I understand that it isn''t the easiest to use, but I think once everyone has had a bit more time to explore, it will become second nature. I know when I first joined PS I was confused as all get out trying to figure out what to do...and think about how many times new members post questions like, ''how do I add a quote when replying??'' When regular posters have been doing that for years! I have faith the smart members of this forum will see the logic behind some things in the new version.
It felt a bit more ''bloggish'' and I''m sure we all will be able to help the admins along the way with features from both versions.
I don''t know...I feel like the admins have worked sooooo hard on the ''improved version'' and if we all just keep saying, ''I hate it'' then we won''t help make PS better! I''m sure everyone will have parts they like once the new site has a chancelet''s try to keep being constructive and not hating on everything!
I''m an eternal optimist. Haha!

Looks like kenny and I are sort of on the same page, but said it a bit differently.
I know the admins want us to share what we don't like about the new version, and I also have to say that I feel like just saying, 'why fix something that's not broken?' doesn't necessarily help.
It was an outdated format if you ask me, and the new features will just give us more to love. I'm sure formating issues will be worked out.
And I guess ill add this too: I have an emotional attachment to the content in the site, and the forum posters. It could be harder to read, post, etc. But as long as the speed issues is worked out, ill work around it to keep getting all of the support and knowledge I glean from being a poster and lurker in the community.
Whew. I feel bettere now![]()
