Now that I''ve found a dress https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/the-naked-hawk-found-a-dress.93988/, I need to find a dress for my girls. They range in height from 5''-5''10" and from small to large in bust size. I''d like to keep the dresses under $200 and knee length. I HATE tea length (right below the knee) with a passion, so that''s something to avoid.

I''m having trouble deciding on dresses that look nice and will be flattering, but will also flatter my dress (refer to link) and now overpower it. I think I''m also picking out things that I''d like to wear vs. things that the girls would look nice in and would look nice as a group.

I''ve pretty much decided on chocolate brown or espresso, and my wedding is in July so the fabric should be lighter weight...

any thougts or ideas?

i just told my bridesmaids, "hey, david''s bridal, cornflower blue, GO" and let them pick themselves. all of them have something that they feel good in but that was within my specifications, and one bridesmaid who knew she couldn''t afford very much was also able to shop within her budget. just a thought!

Okay, so here's my advice. If your bridal salon has any BM dresses in there I recommend going and asking if you can hang up the sample of your dress in the salon (dressing room is probably fine) and comparing dresses to it. Taking a picture just didn't do it for me. My dress is satin..and has a lot of detail on it..so it seemed like almost everything either looked like it was outshining my dress (taffeta for example did or bright color satins) or like it was just way too plain! So. If your girls can wear chiffon that would probably be a good option. Lighter satins can be nice as well. If you're doing a chocolate brown I would recommend trying a satin, lighter variety of satin fabric, organza or chiffon or both, and taffeta next to your dress to get an idea of how it looks. Hope that helps some!

ETA: Wow I ETA a lot..one last thing!! Take the camera with you and photograph the dresses next to your dress so when you get home you can see how they photograph. Sometimes that is VERY different from how they look in person and you want your photos to look good.
