November vacation assistance please

So Mr Gailey wants to take me away from all of this!

I am notoriously bad at holidays and rarely take any, so any suggestions of where to go would be much appreciated. Here''s my criteria

Water (ocean or lake), sun and heat (preferably not above 85-90°F)
Good quality hotel and food
Minimal children (if any)
No more than 6 hours by plane from Calgary (hate flying as it is)

Ah, I thought I had it until you said 6 hours from Calgary. I went to St. Lucia in November 2 years ago and it was awesome!!! Just a thought.

For 6 hours total travel time, you could fly to Miami. I think you would need at least one connecting flight. From Miami, you could go to the Florida Keys, or anywhere else in Florida that might appeal to you. I'm partial to the Keys, personally.

Average temps in Key West in November are low 80s.

Or you could take a flight or a boat to lots of other tropical places. How long will your trip be? Would you like to stay at a resort?

Ohhhh, how about Mexico?

Been to Mexico, stayed in a 5 star resort, got Delhi-Belly, won''t be going back again!

Trip length 7-10 days probably. Florida does appeal. Please tell me more ....

Hi Gailey,

If you decide you want to go to Florida, you might consider starting a new topic here with Florida in the title. I think you will get more responses, since we do have a lot of Floridians on PS. I am not a Florida expert by any means, but my husband's family has a place in the Keys. I was there earlier this year and am going again in December. We did not make it to Key West last trip, but we will this time. We are also planning to go to the Everglades.

At the bottom of this Keys Website, there's an overview map of the keys. Below is a picture of part of the 7 mile bridge, which connects Marathon (one of the keys) to the lower keys. The bridge on the right, which is disconnected at the island, is the old bridge, which is now used for walking and biking. It's really a stunning drive. I think you can also fly into Key West, but it is a smaller airport and might mean another connecting flight for you.

Do you or Mr. Gailey golf? I will post a place I found in Naples (which would be a shorter drive from Miami) next.

It would be a 2 hour drive from Miami to Naples. You could fly into Fort Lauderdale too. There are a lot of resorts in Naples: Naples Hotels.

If you can handle a 9hr total trip, I would go to Maui. I went for my wedding and flew WestJet from Calgary with only 1 stop in Vancouver. They have crazy deals on now too.

ETA: the Van to Maui flight is just over 6hrs IIRC
