I''m listening to a particularly bad cover of Hotel California and I thought I''d see what you all thought... any songs that you just do NOT think should be covered or redone because the first version is just the best?

I gotta tell you a latin salsa version of Hotel California is something SOMEONE should have stopped.

Limp Bizkit''s version of Faith. I have friends who have NO idea that George Michael sang a much better original.

Apparently it goes the other way too -- have you heard Dylan's new Christmas CD?

A much as I lke Bob Dylan, I can also think of may DB covers that I like as much if not more than (Sacre Bleu!) the original. I I think the Yardbirds did a nice job of Turn, Turn, Turn... and Peter, Paul and Mary, with Blowing in the Wind... Jimi Hendrix, with All Along the Watchtower.

Dylan's music is kind of universal, and I think it can be interpreted beautifully when it's in the hands of real artists.

This is exactly what FI says! Literally the same examples.

I think I just have a problem with people copying/messing with the original of anything, regardless of the quality of said original - bags, music, clothes... Even American Idol bothers me to an extent. I''m weird like that.

That album is a masterpiece and should never ever be played with!Hotel california,Pretty maids all in a row,life in the fast lane and Wasted time are all pop/rock perfection!The album won the best album grammy for 1977 and holds up!

omg too funny! Reminds me of the first time I heard the instrumental version of ''like a virgin'' - in an elevator no less... that was just so funny to me.

I pretty much don''t like remakes. Aerosmith''s remakes of Beatles songs are the exception.
