My best friend got married this weekend on October 4th and I just thought I''d share some of what happened.
#1) The day before the wedding the forecast said rain (it was outdoors on the cliffs) so she had to scramble to find a tent. Did finally get one, but it put her even more over budget.
#2) The groom''s grandfather passed away just after midnight on the day of the wedding.
#3) The morning of the wedding, there was no power at the bride''s house; everyone had to move to my house to get ready.
#4) When it finally came time for the ceremony, the DJ wasn''t there! She had booked him for ceremony and reception! He finally showed up 15 minutes after the scheduled start time of the ceremony. We were already lined up to walk down the aisle, so he was sent away.
#5) Although it didn''t end up raining, the winds on the cliffs were crazy!!! And it was freezing. Say bye bye to those $80 hair-dos.
After all of this though, her wedding was still a really beautiful and touching affair. I think it was really good for the groom''s family to focus on something positive right after losing their grandpa.
This is for all the brides who are stressed, losing sleep, freaking out, whatever about their weddings. It''s an example of how great a wedding can still be despite all of these catastrophes.
Good luck to all you ladies out there....as long as you smile and keep a good attitude (like we did) any wedding will be wonderful!
