I posted a while ago that JD had been trying to get on with the Police Reserves and had been accepted. He''s gone out with them a few times and really enjoyed it. (He''s been working 7 days a week since June, so it''s hard to find time to go)
One of the older guys on the force retired, so there is an opening. JD did the physical testing last Saturday and practically skipped back in the house-he''d done better than most of the applicants-even the guys that were already certified. He also had another test-spelling, punctuation etc.
He had his interview Tuesday-he was the first interview scheduled. We hadn''t heard anything yet, and then last night, there was a knock at the door, and one of the Sergeants and another officer (well, maybe they''re both Sergeants) were here to interview me! I do not like interviews, but one of the guys used to work part time on the side where I worked before JD and I got married so we knew each other a little bit at least. I''d no idea they interviewed the spouse, and no clue they were coming. House was clean at least, even if I looked like I regularly sleep in a gutter.
This morning, one of the Sergeants called and JD has to do an MMPI test Monday morning. One of our friends works for the Sheriff''s department (worked for the Police dept for years and just last year switched), and he called a little bit ago to say that JD''s one of the final 3.
I''m really excited for him and hope that he gets it. I know the guys on the force all really like him and are pulling for him.
This is his dream job, and he''s been talking about doing it for years. It will be a pretty heft pay cut for us, but he''ll be happier.
Hopefully he''ll find something out next week. Please keep your fingers crossed!
