Hey All,
I am so excited and I had to share!
Ok, so I'm a middle school teacher and I have always been at the front of the classroom. I am very rarely at my desk (aka monstrosity) which is in the back of my class. This results in the students at my front table who are always cramped for room because I have my stuff that comes w/me (laptop, curriculum bucked, teacher book, grade book, etc). I have always felt bad, but was stuck. So, I searched high and low trying to find something that would work. The problem was that most desks are the same height as my tables. My stool is 24", so too high to use w/the regular table and I'm always hunched. Continued searching, I had an idea in my head, but couldn't find it. Searched Ikea but the shortness (and the expense) was the major issue.
Finally I realized that I was going to have to build it. So, I drew up the plans myself, went to Lowes, got the supplies, and with the help of my best friend began building. The desk fully opened is 40"x16"x35", has 3 shelves (2 for curriculum buckets, 1 for laptop & pens), remove the top and fold in the side and it is 16"x24"x35". It still needs castors and polyurethane, but you get the general idea.
