How absolutely adorable! Congrats!

I crate trained all but one of my dogs and it works...you'll just have to get a super huge one when she gets older!

My best advice would be to watch the Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic channel just on how to be top dog to have calm in your house. I have tried his techniques and they have worked. People have different opinions about Cesar Millan but I like him and his techniques have helped me with a stubborn Rottie and and super stubborn Maltese! Here is a good video with him: Cesar Millan video. This video has puppy info too.

I agree with the other poster who said lots of exercise...going walking (don't let the dog walk in front of you, always to the side of you) is good. Cesar Millan says that mastering the walk is essential before you can do anything. You need to make sure the dog sees you as boss. He recommends that you have calm and assertive energy - never getting frustrated, etc, not allowing the dog to do things it wants but allowing the dog to do what you want it to do. Starting as a puppy is very important. Be a good pack leader (I swear, I've referred so many people to him! I should get commission).

Keeping a puppy busy is important - use a KONG - especially for the bigger breed dogs. My Rottie LOVES it. Stuff some treats inside and it keeps them busy for hours. Some dogs like the Kong and others get bored - try it!

Congrats to you and have lots of fun!

She''s so adorable! I''m a sucker for a sweet little puppy!!

I have an 8 month old puppy. We started taking her for walks after she had her 3rd round of puppy shots at 12 weeks. She''s a good little walker now, and we walk every single day. She has soooo much energy. We bought a training harness that was so worth the money! She has learned to walk beside me and not to pull (unless she spots a bunny, and there''s no stopping her when she spots a bunny).

The crate is a wonderful thing when used correctly. Lily is very used to her crate, and she can travel with us for overnight stays with no problems. Even stayiing in hotels - not a peep out of her! We also started taking her on short car trips with her right after we got her so she''d get used to the car. The vet told me to start playing with her paws and checking her ears early on so that she can get used to having her paws touched to have her nails clipped and her ears cleaned. We''re still working on the jumping on people when she meets them. I''m kind of at a loss because I''ve tried so many suggestions that I have read, and nothing seems to help. She does really well with everything else though. I did a ton of google searches when I first got her because she''s my first ever puppy. There are a bunch of good websites with suggestions, and it seemed like I read the same suggestions over and over so I figured they must be tried & true.

Good luck and enjoy her! They grow so fast...

O M G!! Will you just look at that sweet, adorable face????? I want to pick her up and give her little smoochies.

Izzy is beautiful. Add me to the others, that have never seen a white Boxer before. She is just too darn cute. Love her.

I don''t have much advice, other than to be consistent. Boxers are really smart and will fully exploit any weaknesses! Our boxer is six now, but we didn''t get her until she was one, and she had learned a few annoying habits that we have never been able to break...Though she is mostly a complete sweetheart, as most boxers are. Our neighbor has a white boxer who is a doll, and SO well trained. Perhaps white boxers have calmer personalities in general.

Good luck with your new little one!

And because I can''t resist sharing this camera pic I took of my lazy lady yesterday...
(Ick! Apparently I need to cut her nails!)

i don''t have puppy experience myself, but one of my girlfriends got a Boston puppy back in January and after seeing what she went through, all i can say is to keep at it with the crate training. she was very consistent with her puppy and it''s definitely paid off. it''s hard at first since hearing the puppy cry is so heartbreaking! ultimately, it made her potty training much easier and now her crate is her safe haven.

thank you for sharing your pics!!!

She is a vision! The picture of her in the crate made me melt!

Fatafelice - your Boxer baby is just beautiful.

Allison - as you suggested, we tried "practicing" in the crate in the evening, and took her for her first walk around the block (playing does nothing to wear her out). About 15-20 minutes after getting home, I lured her into her crate with a treat, and her eyes were so heavy, she couldn''t complain about the door being shut, even if she wanted to. No crying until about 3:30 this morning, but it was the "I''ve got to go" cry, not the, "Why are you torturing me?" cry. Hopefully we''ve found the solution! Thank you!

And thank you to everyone else for the compliments, and words of advice. It''s much appreciated. Hubby and I are very excited to have such a sweet addition to our family.

YAY - you''re welcome; my pleasure!

I''m sure she''ll bring you many years of unabashed happiness.

Crating works beautifully on BF''s boxer mix. He''s smart enough to be really destructive and hide it, so crating solved that issue. He''s got a cosy bed in there, and toys, and the worst that happens is when BF works a long shift and his roommates don''t let the dog out, BF comes back to "snow" (aka dog bed stuffing).

Enjoy your sweetheart! Boxers are a great breed.

After some discussion, J and I decided we wanted to add a new fur baby to our household. Now seemed like the perfect time - I''m not currently working, and it would be nice to crate/potty train a puppy before trying to have kids. So...we picked up our white boxer baby Izzy (Isabelle) on Saturday! She''s been a fantastic new addition to our household. Our only challenge, so it seems, will be the crate training, but we''re determined. We know it''ll be best for our household as a whole in the long run. For now, I''m just enjoying all her puppy cuteness. And anyone who has helpful (general) advice for raising puppies, I''d love to hear it! Teaching them that hands and feet are not chew toys, that our dinner is not their dinner, etc.
