Hey everyone!

One of my good friends just got admitted into the hospital. She''s due to deliver her baby girl in 2 weeks, but they found a blood clot in her lungs and they need to do an emergency c-section. Can you please keep her in your thoughts and sprinkle some dust our way? Her bday is tomorrow so her daughter could be born today or share mommy''s bday but as of right now, they don''t know if mommy is strong enough to be able to go through with the c-section. She is currently in ICU and have just finished up a CAT scan. Now we''re just waiting for the results and what the doctors have to say. TIA!

prayers and lots of dust outgoing.

Poor thing. At least the baby is term and will make it through - now lots of prayers for mom to do so, too!

Sending tons of dust to your friend and her baby. Please keep us posted Lucky. I pray all will be fine.

Thanks so much, Kaleigh, MonkeyPie, Snlee, and Neatfreak! I''m heading to the hospital as soon as I get out of work and will post again once I get home.

Lots of dust and prayers that mommy and baby girl will be fine.
Keep us posted.

Sending lots of dust and positive thoughts and prayers!

Sounds rough. No thrombolysis because she''s either pregnant or has just had major surgery. I suspect they''ll deliver sooner rather than later, and then start her on a heparin infusion as soon as they can, or else use interventional radiology to do catheter-directed thrombolysis? I hope she and the baby do well, and that they get this taken care of soon. Best of wishes to her and her family!

UPDATE:

So far, no baby yet. But my friend is now considered a high risk pregnancy and they're planning on going ahead with a c-section...I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks so much for keeping her and her baby girl in your thoughts!! We all appreciate it!

So is she now stable? On IV heparin for the blood clot, which they''ll stop in time to do a planned C/S? Hope she''s having an easier time of things now than a couple days ago.

Thank you DRK!

UPDATE: Baby Gemma was born this morning at 10am via c-section! She''s healthy and absolutely beautiful!! Mommy is doing better and more comfortable now. She''s still being treated for blood clots, but she''s told by the docs that she''ll be fine. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers!!

I was going to add that the treatment for clots has come a loooooooooooong way while serious is treatable :)
