We just have to work thru the logistics but I'm sure last class will be filled in no time!

Oh - how about a DIAMOND YOGA class!!! The instructor drops an OEC on the mat and you have to do a downward dog then a king cobra move to pick it up.... each time you master an intermediate move, you get a reward!!!
:appl: :appl: :appl:

Yes! I like the way you think :naughty: I need to do enough diamond yoga to get some earrings, pendant, and my rhr 3 stone-all OECs please.

There you go - just being on PS and having fun planning, is a destressor!! :loopy:

What about running? I do not run (its an effort to get to the end of our 170' drive way!! ;)) ) but those that do, find that it really helps. Exercise is a huge stress reliever - the endorphins, hormones, muscle activity all get the heart pumping. Your mind is going going going all day long with baby/school/life - we all benefit from some 'me' time.

(and some diamond time, lets not forget that!)

Running doesn't quite woe for me seeing as I pretty much get knocked out by my own boobs  If I could find a good sports bra then I might be game. I do like going to the gym and doing the elliptical, fast walking on the tread mill and some light weights.

I can appreciate the injury you are at risk of - I'd suffer the same fate! Yes, I prefer the treadmill in our basement to being out on the pavement and risk looking like an idiot to all of our neighbours.

Does lifting a wine glass count as weights? We have to work this into our core yoga offerings!

Wine lifting! I feel like this would be a very popular course!

And lift...2...3...4...and drink...2...3....4... And refill....2...3...4...and repeat!

I love wine too but just watch because it can actually make stress and anxiety worse. As you process the sugars in the wine, it can impede your sleep so you fall asleep but don't sleep as restfully or as deeply. I enjoy my wine just earlier in the evening.

I'm sorry you are going through all this. The other posters have given you some good tips. I find deep breathing and trying to put things into perspective and focus on the now rather than the later or the past the best way to destress. I also try to get my mind off by taking me time...taking a walk, reading some gossipy magazine or focusing on something that I enjoy - crafts, Youtube videos, Pricescope... Daily exercise if you can fit it in really helps me sleep better and channel my nervous energy into something more positive. I also try to watch my sugar and alcohol especially right before bedtime. Getting into a routine helps and might help your DD sleep better to. Hopefully this passes quickly and you can relax!

If only I were one of those people that could eat and not gain weight....lucky you-know-what's. Haha. Stress eating is what got me to the point now where I need to lose the pounds....a lot of them!

If it makes you feel any better, I question the ability to take enjoyable bathes in this house. The military housing we are in has the plastic like material shower/tub combo where it is all one piece. Fingers crossed I can. Maybe you can persuade the hubs to get you a bath tub to destress in? Just give him a few examples from the past where destressing in a tub would have benefited him instead of him being in the doghouse. ;))

I'm sorry to hear this, especially the part about your DD. I gasped when I read that.

I agree excersise, maybe swimming too, that might help. Although I know it's easier to say than do. You have to find a place, you have to go there, etc.

I hope your DD's health improves soon and you can get some rest. :wavey:

Thanks, Imdanny, I hope she feels better soon, too!

Wow... you certainly have a lot on your plate (understatement of the year???). I agree that a bath is the way to go - it is my stress reliever for sure. Just don't do it too often and get a bladder infection - that is the LAST thing you need! I happen to like Clarin's Relax Bath and Shower Concentrate. It has all of those yummy aromatics that help you decompress. Walking is also something that works for me. Sometimes just getting out of your house and into the fresh air will do you good.

Aside from that, it seems like there are some things you may have to let go of. Is it necessary for you to take 20-22 units of school? I remember my senior year of college being extremely stressful because I was working full time and taking 15 units. Perhaps this is one area where you can give yourself a break - many of the other things are beyond your control, such as your daughters health issues, so you just have to pick your battles and realize you are not a superhuman. Sometimes just coming to that conclusion can bring you peace... you need it!

Hi armywife.... how are you going with the destressing? how are things with your DD? I was thinking about you and had to search back to find this thread! I hope things have taken an upward swing for you.... remember our diamond/wine yoga classes we are going to franchise!!! :D

Aww, you are so sweet, Enerchi! Things have been ok, my husband's training is lightening up a bit, so he is able to help at night and on the weekends. That has helped out a lot, I have been able to have some me time and get school work done. DD is doing better, thanks for asking! She hasn't had any outbreaks in a month(knock on wood), but they still want her to go to an infectious disease doctor, so we will be doing that in the next few weeks. Since she has been feeling better, I have been able to get her in the hourly daycare on post. So Monday-Friday she goes in for a few hours in the morning, during which I go on a two mile hike with a few wives I have met and then work on homework/housework. Things have definitely taken a turn for the better- thank goodness!

We will have to get started on the business plans for our diamond/wine yoga classes!

Glad to hear the good news! That's so nice that things are settling down and some relief is in place. There are always times in life where it is so easy to get overloaded... and a little help is enough to just get you over that hump. I still have those times...

Yes, Diamond downward dog and wine namaste...I'm in! We'll have a juice/distilled water/wine bar at the back... and rooms where mom's can just nap instead of returning home right away! :loopy:

Yes, it is amazing how much a little bit of help can tip the scale!

And I Ike the nap idea! :snore:

Hi Armywife! :wavey: I empathize with all that you have on your plate right now! Im glad to hear your daughter is doing better! :appl: When my son is sick, my stress level increases by 100+%.

Re MRSA- you may want to look into Silver Biotics:

http://vitaminmonkey.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=76

I haven't tried it yet - I'm in the process of researching it - but it may be worth looking into?

My other advice is at least 1/2 hour (preferably an hour) of uninterupted YOU time every day. Do anything you like- read a book, take a bath, go get a coffee and people watch - do whatever you enjoy. This helps me de-stress and if I do it regularly, it really helps me keep the stress levels down. :)

So glad to hear things are better armywife! I was wondering how you were doing too! I did have another suggestion. I was thinking about this some more, and though it might sound weird, what really helps me to relax are two different cognitive exercises. They use visualizations that allow you to imagine your stress away.

For example, I am a person who often struggles with unhealthy guilt, and I sometimes imagine my guilt as quicksand that's slowly enveloping me. But when I'm lying down, breathing evenly, I imagine that quicksand drying up, turning solid, and becoming very porous so that I'm able to chip away at big chunks of it to free myself. This exercise instantly alleviates a lot of the guilt I'm feeling.

If I'm feeling stressed but not particularly guilty, I might picture my stress as little lightning bolts striking all over my body, and am able to envision to lighting fading or leaving my body in some fashion.

The second exercise, is called safe place. The idea is to envision yourself in the place you feel the most safe. It could be a place you know or one you've made up. You make the rules. No one can enter safe place unless you allow them to. Some people choose the outdoors (a quiet meadow or riverside) for their safe place. I usually find myself in an expansive bungalow hidden away in the top of the tallest tree in a rainforest. 8)

The beauty of these exercises is that they're entirely customizable to the individual. While I picture my stress as lightning bolts, someone else might picture it as bricks on their shoulders or chains on their feet, and have very different ways of envisioning their freedom from these hardships. So if you give either of these exercises a try, just work with whatever vision feels right/good to you.

Thanks for the responses, LALove and Snicklefritz!

LALove, thanks for the links, I will definitely look into them. I am open to anything that will help my daughter feel better! I agree, a sick child causes stress levels to go through the roof. I have been trying to set aside some me time lately since I have had the opportunity with DD being able to be in daycare. The morning walks have been great-plus, if I am going to be honest, I could use the exercise. ;)

Snicklefritz, I really like the visualizations you explained. I am definitely going to have to try them. In the past I have tried to lay still and focus on relaxing each muscle in my body, from to feet to my head, one by one. It used to help, but not so much anymore. So hopefully these will help me get some zzzzz's. :snore:
