I'm hoping you ladies can point me in the right direction regarding where to go for a gift for a friend. I want to get a sterling and possibly leather necklace--maybe a bit punk-y but not too if you know what I mean. She's not big into jewelry, wears the evil eye {which TOTALLY FREAKS ME OUT}, but notices and comments on everything I wear. She is the GF of my husband's BF and we have become very close. I want to get this right! She wears mostly silver and doesn't wear rings. I want to spend no more than $75-100 and need it by June 26.

Thanks for any help you can throw my way.

Maybe an inexpensive pair of freshwater pearl earrings? This link is for Catherine Cardellini, we all like her over in pearls, and she can always make you something custom. She friendly and quick like a bunny. Her website is chockablock full, but if you use the search, that helps a little.

BTW; what's wrong with the evil eye? :) It's a good thing, wards off evil feelings, and ill will. I and my DD both wear it, keep a couple in the car, etc. It's all good.

Hey amber, thanks to iLander's post quite a while ago about Tahitian Pearls (tahitianpearls.biz) I've had Jose make me a pair of pearl drops.

He's excellent to work with and I'm just about to order three of these for presents:

They are $59 and up and he seems to have a very good 'eye'. Certainly he's good at responding to mails if you have special requests, although you'll need to give him a few days to respond.

Oh, edited to say that you don't have to a blue silk ribbon as an option - I've chosen two silver chains and a leather thong.

Good luck

Check out this shop on Etsy: http://www.etsy.com/shop/jewelsvine?page=1

I'm not sure if the items in that shop match your friend's taste, but even if they don't, all the charms are very detailed and well made. Quite reasonably priced too. I've purchased from her and was very pleased with my purchase. ::)

Thank you Junebug, ILander, Laughinggravy, Purplesilk and QueenB29 for all your suggestions! I finally selected the multistrand with the evil eye and hamsa from Lucky Amulets and it is on the way...II should be here by Monday.

I appreciate all your help and enjoyed going thru all the sites you suggested!
