Hi everyone.

Miglet is much sicker. We had the vet here to visit her on Tuesday. Either an infection or a tumor but the vet leaned towards tumor. She got Miglet started on antibiotics to see if they would help.

I just talked to the vet. She looked at the stains of the stuff she took from Miglets cheek. The cells are dividing. It is still possible it is an infection but points strongly to tumor. We won''t know for sure. There is no point to sending it to the lab for further testing. If it is a tumor, there is no treatment for a 19 year old cat. If it is an infection, there is no other treatment than what we are doing. If she were young enough for surgery then maybe.

I''m home with her today giving her food & water and the antibiotics. There is a small chance this will work. Since she isn''t in too much pain we''re going to try it for a bit and see how she does. She seems a bit stronger today than she did last night.

The next few days will decide what we do. If she gets weaker or can''t eat & drink then.....

We won''t keep her in pain. We just want to give her every chance to get better.

I''m sorry TP...I hope it is only an infection and those antibiotics kick in real soon.

I''m sorry, TP! I''m sending some ********healing dust****** Miglet''s way!!!

a friend of mine has a cat, Boo, who has a mouth tumor as well. and an older cat, too, although not as old at Miglet. she found a vet who is also into alternative theraphy and has a lot of luck in sustaining a quality of life for Boo. it isn''t a cure-all but has increased her ability to eat and desire to do so. it also has given my friend more time with Boo. i don''t know if you can find such a vet in your area.

Lots of healing dust headed Miglet''s way, and big hugs to you, TP.

OMG, Too Patient....My heart is aching for you and Miglet. I am praying that this course of antibiotics works. Please know that you are both in my prayers.

Sending dust and hugs for Miglet...I hope she gets better

Miglet has been shocking the vet and us. The infection seems to be getting better. Slowly.
She is able to walk (and run), eat, and drink on her own. She is using her cat box pretty well too.

Day before yesterday though, I saw that her lower jaw wasn''t lining up with her upper. It was off to the side a bit. Got worse yesterday. (edge of lower mouth lines up with center of upper)
Called the vet. They say that with tumors or really bad infections it is possible to have the jaw fracture.

Not sure what they can do for her. The vet who has been seeing her is going to call today.

I don''t want to lose her to a fractured jaw. Not now after she has gotten so much better and was almost through the infection. She is so alert and active. Purring. Eating. Excited over her favorite stuff.

Does anyone have any idea what they can do for a fracture?

Sending heaps of ***DUST***DUST***DUST***

Oh I''m so sorry to hear this. (((((vibes)))))

Well that is good news except for the jaw...is she eating soft food easy for her to get down? I hope she
continues to get better.

She is eating her canned food. I''ve been mixing her can (just quail) with a little bit of chicken broth (homemade so no salt or anything) and mashed squash. She seems to really like this and has been eating it. Hard to tell exactly how much she is eating, but she is definitely eating. (a cat twice her size should eat one can per day, I''ve been offering the equivalent of 2)

Thoughts going out to you and Miglet
