My front guest room is/was this horrible shade of old lady rose. Apparently FI either bought the wrong color paint or the paint chip looked different in the store, but it''s pink and he thought it was beige. So I''m tired of it and I''m going to paint the room. Actually, I''ve already started. I chose this really nice shade of dark teal and I have cream molding. I plan to use black furniture. The room isn''t huge, probably 10 x 10 or 12 x 12, so I don''t want to overpower what space there is. There are hardwood floors and a closet. The bed is a full-size iron bed and I have a dresser and a desk in the room right now which will stay. I may add 1 or 2 side tables as well, but it depends on how I feel once I have everything arranged.

What I need help on right now are bed linens. I want the room to feel large and airy (LOL should have gone with a light paint) but dramatic. It get''s a lot of sun throughout the day. I''m drawn to the color combo of the dark teal with chocolate brown, but I also think I might like gray or beige with the teal. I''m concerned that the chocolate brown with the teal will make the room feel small since they''re both dark(er) colors. I LOVE white and the teal, but I have 2 cats and a black dog, and the idea of constantly vacuuming the bed is so so not appealing.

So, thoughts on bedding colors?

I''ll try and find a picture of a similar color...

These are from Anthropologie

I think a beige or cream with the teal would lighten things up considerably, especially since you already have cream moldings. Maybe choose a print that has teal accents, so that the color is mostly cream.

Okay so the color is pretty similar to the color that''s second from the right.

oooo I like the middle bedding Starset posted!

I would do gray before I would do beige. I would buy white frames and put black and white photos to break up the teal on the walls and make it feel light and bright. I do like the second bed comforter but think for a guest room that the pattern would be too overpowering.

Interesting. I hadn''t thought of using white frames. Is that still OK if my furniture is black/espresso?

Well, I do like the paisley option but coming from someone who had a miserably failed teal room, I worry for you. I tried to teal and ivory and it didn''t work. I actually would suggest doing the cream paint color and using that comforter. A little teal goes a long way.

To make it even more cohesive you could do a black mat in the frame

What about black and white damask bedding?

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

Of course, this is coming from someone with a dark teal dining room and black/white damask curtains. The crisp white and black combination really works with the teal in my experience.

I love the color you''ve picked out. I bet it looks great on your wall.

Me, too! Love black and white damask!

Also, I don''t know why, but I''m totally digging orange with that teal.

I love that last set SO much. I''m trying to stay away from white or mostly white sets because I have two cats who love the room and will make a beeline for anything they SHOULDN''T lay on. I do love the look though. FI and I were actually talking about this this morning on the way in to the office. He thinks we should do something like the last set with white frames and the black/dark furniture and then just close off the room to the cats. We''ll see...
