VRBeauty - thanks for the good wishes - I hope it comes out just like you said.

Karl - thanks for the prayers!

Sabine - thanks for checking w/ your DH. Is he a doctor? It is very high tech indeed.

Tyty333 - I am trying to stay very calm, I figure the calmer the better, health wise. Thanks for the good health dust.

Diamond Dana - thanks for the good thoughts and PS dust!

Sharon101 - I am considering testing for BRAC1,2. I worry about being discriminated against from insurance companies if it comes out positive though. I am not sure about the law on this subject.

SooCool - I could have written your post and I hope I get your results. Mine''s in the left too. My mother died from it but let it go a long time before she got help. Thank you so much for your post.

Lyra - it''s a viscious gamble isn''t it? One is never quite sure if they have looked enough, and then again sometimes it seems like they look too much. Challenging. I am glad yours turned out ok. Keep following it.

Diamondrnglover - thanks for the good wishes, I am hoping for the best.

Chiquitapet - thanks for you good thoughts. I appreciate it.

Puffy - thanks for the positive thoughts! I know they help.

Phoenix - thanks for the dust and the hugs and the concern. I hope it comes out ok.

Amethyste - you got that right - technology is remarkable. I would have no idea that there was anything there, but they tell me there is - computer sees all! Thanks for good thoughts.

Icekid - I have not yet scheduled the biopsy. It will be fairly soon - within next 30 days. Then we wait for results.....

Tuckins1 - Glad it came out all good for your MIL. I hope I get the same. Thanks for the PS dust!!

OUpeargirl - thanks so much - I really appreciate it.

Marcyc - thank you. I like the signature on your post - I think it is great advice!

Thanks again everybody. I am checking on whether this sterotactic needle biopsy is better than an incision biopsy. I feel like an incision is good cause they get more tissue, so I am going to ask about it. I check the area where the doctor said the calcifications are and I can feel nothing! Would never know anything was there.

I so much appreciate your good wishes. It really makes a difference.

Beacon, with the sterotactic needle biopsy the doctor/surgeon took over 25 tissue samples from my breast. The procedure uses a digital mammography machine and the needles are guided to the specific areas in the breast to extract tissue samples. I was given a local anesthetic to numb the breast and just felt the pressure of the needle and then a click. The difficult part is lying very still on your belly. Afterwards they used surgical glue to close the incision and an icepack. I guess the incision was made prior to the needles being guided in...I just don''t remember. Afterwards I was somewhat sore for a few days, but Tylenol helped.

Beacon, sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

I''m sorry to hear this, too, Beacon, and pray for a very good result! I''d recommend trying to get it over with as soon as possible for your peace of mind.

much dust for you! i hope everything turns out ok for you and my thoughts will be with you

Beascon:

I was out of town for a few days and I just saw your post. I am really sorry to hear that you have to go through a biopsy. The procedure is kind of uncomfortable since you have to lie face down and cannot move for a while, but it''s not too bad. The mammogram machines are more sensitive these days, which is good and bad. They find problems earlier which is good, but they also tend to pick up more false alarms, which lead to more unnecessary biopsies. A lot of people have calcifications in their breasts and usually the doctors just watch it. If they see changes, then they want to do a biopsy to check it out. A lot of times, it turns out to be a false alarm. Even if it isn''t, it''s a very early stage and not serious. I am sending ''dust'' your way and keeping my fingers crossed that this turns out to be a false alarm for you.

Hey Beacon, I''m so sorry to hear of this but I''m sending you lots of dust and luck. Have you had the biopsy yet? Hope you''re doing okay sweetie, I''m thinking of you.

Take care and please keep us updated.

SooCool - 25 tissue samples sounds...well, scary! But I guess they are small and I am glad you didn''t have much pain. Thanks for the info, I hope I can lie still like that for a long time.

KimberlyH - Thanks for thinking of me. I appreciate it.

Diamondseeker2006 - Thanks for your prayers for a good result!

Squirrly - I appreciate the powerful PS dust - thanks for that.

AN - Thanks for your good wishes. I really like the way you put it in perspective, your words help my confidence. I hope it is a false alarm too, but like you said, they are finding things earlier so even if they find a bad thing, hopefully it is fixable.

Asscher_girl - Thanks so much, I appreciate the dust and the good luck wishes. I am scheduled for July 16 procedure. Kinda dreading it, so thinking maybe to take a Valium or something to steady my nerves so I can lie there long enough for them to do the job. Thanks for thinking of me.

Beacon - just something small that might help you on the 16th..

girlfriends of mine who have had biopsies have said it''s gone slightly easier if they''ve had a couple of tylenol or nurofen beforehand so they''ve already kicked in when you''re done.

just a thought - and will be thinking of you on the 16th.

Wishing the best for you on the 16th, Beacon!!

We will be thinking of you on the 16th Dear Beacon.

I was going to suggest taking Tylenol beforehand too, but I see that Whitby already did.

Many hugs and prayers coming your way.

Expect a delivery of dust, from me, headed your way. I have had two incision biopsies, which were negative. My mother died from breast CA and I am also checked very closely. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope all will be well for you, Beacon. I have several friends who have had a biopsy for the very same reason you will have one - - and they are okay and cancer-free. Look at it as just a precautionary measure.

prayers outgoing.

Thanks Whitby and LindaW, for the suggestion of tylenol. I have read some very scary reports of big pain during this type of biopsy. I am thinking that I might ask for some sedation, or something. I checked the instructions they gave and Tylenol seems like it''s ok to take beforehand, so maybe I better do that too!

hlmr - thanks for thinking of me! My biopsy date is now scheduled for July 22 - nice to have a couple extra days to get ready for it.

Risingsun - sorry that you lost your mom that way. Very glad to hear that you have gone through these biopsies twice and came out a-ok. It is quite nerve wracking, isn''t it?

Thanks HollyS. I hope I have a good result just like your friends. Your comment gave me a good feeling.

Skippy, thanks for the prayers!

So now I get my turn on July 22. I sure hope it all goes well. I should be standing on my head with anxiety, but I am just taking it day to day right now. So much appreciate the kindness of the PS community.

Tons of good thoughts headed your way for the re-scheduled procedure Beacon. I''ll be thinking of you on the 22nd.

I think some Valium or similar would be a great idea - you could even ask your Dr. for an Ativan - its a little nicer than Valium because it has a higher incidence of making you forget (or at least get fuzzy) about the procedure. I had one before I had my eyes done - highly recommend it.

I second the Ativan suggestion. It will help relax you for the procedure and afterward.

Thinking about you Beacon and sending tons of good wishes you way.Hope you gt the best possible news soon.

Best of luck with the procedure tomorrow, Beacon. Hope everything goes smooothly and pain-free. Also hope that the biopsy will show that everything is fine with you.

My sister-in-law recently went through a procedure. Really scared us off. Turned out it was nothing. So, hopefully, that'll be the case with you. I always say good things happen to good people, so I'm very confident yours will turn out to be nothing.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. HUGS and PRAYERS outgoing.
