Following Ken Burns' recent film series on PBS, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, the parks have been on my mind.

Did you see the series?

Which National Parks have you visited?

If you saw the film, are you now more likely to visit a park in the near future?

Even though the film was about US parks, I'd love to hear about National Parks in other countries too!!

*******

I'll start. I saw the film and loved it, although some parts were a bit too syrupy-sweet for me. My favorite part was the narration from the journal of Margaret Gehrke, who visited all of the parks (that existed at the time) with her husband and kept a journal record of their trips.

I've been to:

Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park (one trip, solo)
Acadia
Grand Canyon (solo)
Denali
Plitvice Lakes (in Croatia)

I'm going to the Everglades in December. I really want to go to Yosemite!! (I've never been to California!?!) I also want to see Crater Lake.

Tell us where you've been and where you're going!

Most recently we visited the Everglades and loved it!

We plan on visiting many more National Parks, we really enjoy them.

Bryce, Zion, Crater Lake & Yosemite.

I''ve been to the Olympic National Park in Washington State and The Everglades in FL. Seems like there''s another place too, but I''m cannot remember offhand. . .

Very good show! yellowstone is the best!

Ken Burns' latest series prompted me to remember all of the parks we've visited. When we were much younger and had more time and less money, we used to "collect" national parks and made it a point to visit one on each trip.

We've been to:

In Hawaii --
Haleakala
Volcanoes

In California --
Yosemite
Redwoods
Joshua Tree

In Washington --
Olympic

In Oregon --
Crater Lake

In Arizona --
Grand Canyon
Petrified Forest
Saguaro

In Colorado --
Mesa Verde (awesome human story)

In Utah --
Bryce Canyon
Zion
Arches

In Virginia --
Shenandoah

In Arkansas --
Hot Springs

In Texas --
Big Bend (to see the cactus bloom)
Guadalupe Mountains

There are many more national monuments, national seashores and national forests we've visited. All are reminders of the beautiful treasures we all own.

I did not see the show but would like to have.

I''ve been to:

Rocky Mountain National Park
Acadia National Park
Haleakala National Park
Grand Canyon National Park

I would like to go to Yellowstone, Yosemilte, Denali, and either Bryce or Zion. I think our national parks are definitely treasures!

I haven''t seen it, but I really want to visit Yellowstone, Yosemite for sure. We have the Ocala National Forest here which I love to go down to, it''s a bit different than most, but has a lot of wildlife. I went to Everglades when I was younger, and we''ll be going back this winter for SO to really show me around.

I grew up near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so we went there pretty frequently. There are tons of amazing hiking trails at different skill levels.

I''ve also been to the Everglades, Mammoth Cave, and the Badlands.

I''ve also visited a ton of National Historic Parks, National Historic Sites, National Seashores, National Battlefields, etc (all Park Service properties). My favorite of those is probably Jean Lafitte in south Louisiana.

Great Smokey Mountain National Park
Acadia National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park

soo many more we want to visit!

Yosemite, Kings Canyon/Sequoia, Everglades, Acadia, Mount Ranier, Rocky Mountain, and Olympic. I loooove national park vacations and hope to visit many more.

Glacier National Park in Montana was STUNNING!

I also have visited Joshua Tree and it was also gorgeous. Pretty sure I''ve been to some others in Colorado but can''t remember because I was much younger.

I watched a bit of the PBS series and thought it was really neat. I want to visit them all!

I''ve been to a few parks, some when I was a kid (we traveled a lot during the summers, cross country)...let''s see... Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Everglades, Rocky Mountains, Great Smoky Mountains and Sleeping Bear in Northern Michigan. May have been to more when I was little, possibly the Redwoods, but I don''t recall 100%!

And I LOVED the Ken Burns specials...they just kind of suck you in! I had watched a couple episodes, over a few evenings as they aired, then when PBS ran the all day marathon on a Saturday, DH sat for HOURS, LOL, watching them too...I couldn''t help but watch again with him! I think the music REALLY draws one into the program. Ken Burns is a very talented story teller.

I dvr''d the entire series but I''ve only watched the first two installments. It is so fascinating. DH and I decided long ago that one of the things we''d most like to do is visit National and State Parks. We go to our state parks frequently but I haven''t been to any National parks yet. The only one I don''t want to go to is the Everglades, DH''s stories are plenty enough for me!
