CNN Justice has the hotel surveillance video which is very clear.

They arrived together

They entered the room together

He left alone saying

''Don''t bother my girl''

Wow! Don''t bother my girl? I''m sure he''s going to say she was sleeping when he left.

CNN has new information from the Ramirez family

I''m so glad he confessed! I hope this leads to a confession in Natalee''s case as well.

The article said: "When van der Sloot confessed, he said he lost his temper because Flores accessed his laptop without asking for permission, which led to her finding out about his involvement in the Holloway case."

Seriously??? Did he honestly think she wasn''t eventually going to find out who he was, regardless of whether or not she used his laptop without permission??? Come ON!!!

And I can''t help but wonder about the death of his father. Evidently, he suddenly collapsed while playing tennis. He was only 57 years old and seemed to be in good health. Of course, he was probably the only one (other than Joran) who knew what really happened to Natalee. Hmmm . . .

"We went to my hotel room.
She stripped to her underwear.
And then she............GOOGLED ME"

That is about as believable as the stories he has told about Natalee.

Oh. My. Gah.

I agree. That is not a plausible story at all. And, it's not even a remotely good story. THAT is why you kill someone? What?

While it is good that he confessed, I am certain that he will later say it was a forced confession. I am certain of this because he always changes his story. I wonder if he had a lawyer at the time of his confession.

None of it matters anyway, as it seems there would be more than enough forensic evidence to establish guilt.

Maximum period of confinement is only 35 years, and this apparently is typically reduced in the event of a confesssion.

This story is from Yahoo:

Joran van der Sloot Confesses

This guy is nuts! The story says he went out to get coffee around 8 am. I guess around that time Ms. Ramirez decided to do some investigation on his computer. Apparently he found out when he came back, and that''s when he attacked her. He was recorded leaving the hotel alone sometime after.

What kind of person does this?

Absolutely shocking. Clearly this is someone who thinks he can do whatever he wants and just get away with it, even killing someone. I guess he never had to suffer consequences in his childhood. His parents probably bailed him out of eveyrthing he got into.

And what''s worse is that he was trying to extort money from the Holloway family in exchange for info on her death!! Again, what kind of person does this??? Hasn''t the family suffered enough at his hands already??? It''s bad enough that he took her away from her family and got away scot free- now he wants to make her grieving family PAY thousands for what he did?

Absolutely incredulous.

So he leaves the hotel at 8:10 for coffee. Figure maybe 10-15 minutes for that. He''s back in the room with 2 cups of coffee just before 8:30 and it''s all over by 9 when he leaves. 30 minutes is what it took this monster to find out she snooped on his computer, to decide to kill her, to kill her, to pack up, and to non-chalantly leave the room. I can''t fathom the rage this monster had inside him to do this at a second''s notice.

My deepest sympathy to her family. Unreal.

I wonder if the two cups of coffee were a ruse to make it look
as if she was still alive.
When he left,he did tell the hotel staff not to "bother my girl" and they didn''t for two days.

Treefrog, I truly believe he''s a sociopath . . . they have zero conscience.

I thought this too at first, but it seems like maybe while he was out getting the coffee was when she took the opportunity to check up on him online. Then he comes back with the coffee, discovers that she''s been Googling him or whatever, goes into a rage and beats her to death with the tennis racket. Ugh, this guy just disgusts me!!!

What I don''t understand is that they only found one cup of coffee in the room. Where is the other cup? Perhaps he only purchased one because he had already killed her.
I think his excuse is a bunch of B.S. I''m sure if she found anything on his computer she would have been out of there in two seconds flat, before he got back with the coffee. Other reports are making it sound like she knew who he was the whole time and decided to play "detective" once she was alone. Either way, he''s most likely lying. I''m sure she wouldn''t follow a suspected murderer into a hotel room if she knew that was the case. I think he wanted her winnings from the Casino, probably for drugs or travel.
Look at his his expression as he''s leaving the hotel room--that is not the demeanor of someone who just flew into a rage and murdered someone! He looks completely calm and relaxed. If he did fly into a rage, I''m sure the shower and change of clothes (while his victim laid their, lifeless) helped.

Stephany''s casino winnings of over $1700 are missing

Where is the footage of Joran leaving to get the coffee and coming back with it?
Had he already showered and changed clothes?

Methinks there''s gonna be some justice meted out, Peruvian prison style. Seerously, he''ll be lucky to make it 5 years.By the way, I live in Holland, and everyone here is just disgusted. What a sociopath. My question, it seems so easy for him to kill... are they looking into his past for other bodies, other missing girls. Natalie and this young lady are probably the tip of the iceberg.

This story just gets worse. http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20392637,00.html (Sorry, I read people.com a lot...it's mindless entertainment.)

I don't even know what to say about it anymore. It is just frightening that there are people out there like this.

"After apparently breaking her neck and killing Stephany Flores in his hotel room, Joran Van der Sloot consumed a breakfast of coffee and cookies while looking at her battered body and thinking of ways he could dispose of it, according to Peruvian media reports."

ETA: It also explains where he got the money to travel from, as someone asked at the beginning of the thread. $10,000 from Natalie Holloway's mother's attorney just a few days before all of this.

The media seems to be taking the "She looked in my computer so I killed her" story as truth.
But since Dutch is his first language would she have e ven been able to read it?
And wouldn''t his laptop be password protected, especially if it contained some sort
of incriminating information?

We saw the two of them go into the room and him come out alone. Why wasn''t the ''coffee trip'' caputured on tape? I doubt seriously that it really happened that way. You can''t believe anything he says. I don''t know why she was going to his room - what she thought the purpose was - but I doubt his story is accurate. We will probably never know the real truth as that poor girl is gone. Horrifying!

Hi, I''m an American living in Holland... so I have lota of experience here in the Dutch department. The Dutch all speak English like it was a second mother tongue. Also she could have possibly just Googled his name in any language. He''s under Wikipedia for "Scumbag A-shole"

There is new footage of Joran trying to establish his alibi. Hopefully the link works, since I got it from someone else.

He leaves the room with the coffee that he had already purchased, then stands around for a while and pretends to knock on the door.
Then he pretends he is locked out of the room and goes to get a hotel employee to unlock the door for him.

It''s so obvious that he wanted the hotel employee to ENTER the room and discover the body. His alibi would have been that he just left to get coffee, so he couldn''t have done it. But the employee never went into the room, so his plan failed.

Here is the link:
http://translate.google.com/translate?tl=en&sourceid=ie8-activity&u=http%3A%2F%2Felcomercio.pe%2Fnoticia%2F493043%2Fjoran-van-der-sloot-simulo-como-coartada-no-tener-llaves-cuarto-donde-asesino-stephany-flores

We still don''t know for sure whether or not he changed clothes before getting the coffee because they haven''t released that footage. But it has been reported that he was wearing the old clothes. One possible scenario is that he killed her, thought up the coffee alibi, realized on the way to pick it up that his clothes had evidence on them (so pretending to be locked out at that time would be stupid), got back to the hotel and changed clothes, and then pretended that he was just arriving back to the hotel. So sad it didn''t work.
