Hi there! I have already decided which name I will choose for my baby girl but I am not sure which version of this name will be nicer and fit better to my very short last name - Los. In your opinion, which name sounds more unique and you like more? Evelina or Evelyn?
Thanks!

My daughter has a friend with the name Evelyn, pronounced Eve Lynn, and I thinks that sounds very pretty.(she also has a short last name; only 2 letters), but many people mispronounce it. I have never heard of anyone with the name Evelina, so to me it is very unique and very pretty as well.

Do you think you will call her by a nickname? The nickname you might choose may help you decide on the name.

They''re both beautiful names, but I prefer Evelyn. It''s such a pretty, feminine name. Classic but not overused.

I prefer Evelina because I think it flows better with your last name. Evelyn is more difficult to say with the repeating "l" sounds, IMO. They''re both pretty, though!

I like Evelina. It''s a much less common than Evelyn although Evelyn is pretty uncommon these days. I have a personal preference for girl names that have more than 2 syllables.

Between the two, I like Evelyn...but I''m really liking soocool''s Eve-Lynn pronunciation!

I thought so too, but according to the SSA website, it was #55 in 2007. This year it has probably broken top 50.

orchids, if you want something more unique, I''d go with Evelina.

I prefer Evelina - it''s different and very pretty. It also works better with your last name - the name just rolls off your tongue....Evelina Los. Lovely...

"eve-lynne" by far.

I''ve come to dislike female names that end in diminutives like "y", "ie" or "ina". A name should have strength. When was the last time we had a CEO of a major corp or president Jacky, Billy, Georgy, or Obamina...ya know

I think the names that end in such diminutives (''ina'' to be precise) are typical for the slavic countries. Evelina for example is a relatively common name here in Bulgaria. It comes from the name Eve, so that may be a nickname for the baby!

I like Evalina better with your last name. Evelyn Los has the "l" sounds too close together to be easy to say.

I like Evelina. I don''t think the diminutive makes it sound weak. Evelina to me envisions someone graceful, with a quiet strength. Probably reading waaaay too into it though.

It sounds pretty

Evelyn is becoming quite popular again. I know of 2 born this year in my group of friends. So my vote, simply for that reason, is for Evelina.
Both are very pretty and go well with your last name IMO, so i don''t think you can go wrong!

I agree. I prefer the 3+1 syllables. Would the nickname be Evie or Lina?
