I just returned from a fabulous trip to NYC last week! We stayed right in Times Square right around the corner from the diamond district and stayed busy all our waking hours! We saw all the major sights and went to see both Wicked and Phantom of the Opera. Both shows were great, but I LOVED Wicked!

I went to visit Leon Mege briefly, and he was very nice and even cleaned and polished my ring for me! He had an appointment or I would have stayed longer to look at his rings for sale. I also had the pleasure of spending most of a day with Harriet who took me to several jewelry stores in the diamond district as well as 5th Ave. There are some amazing rings and other pieces in Tiffany and Cartier in NYC! I tried on the Trinity rings but just couldn''t decide if I''d really wear it. I also enjoyed going in Mikimoto where we saw some incredible South Sea pearls and conch pearls with very, very high price tags. It was interesting going shopping with someone with a 3.6 ct. diamond ring, because sales people were very attentive to her! And speaking of that, I tried on her ring and took a picture so that every time I think mine is too big, I can see just how little it is compared with Harriet''s absolutely gorgeous rock!

Haha! I really appreciated her taking the time to show me around!

Believe it or not, I didn''t buy a single piece of jewelry! There was just too much there to choose from! It was soooo much fun looking, though!

YES!!! We saw the folding chairs!!! How weird is that????

And yes, we had fabulous food....Bond 45, Carmine''s, John''s Pizza, and St. Andrews Restaurant. Went to Hard Rock, Chinese in Chinatown, etc. for lunch.

OH, and the world''s best cheesecake from Juniors!!!!!

We picked up "designer" purses in Chinatown

....that was about all I bought.

HI:

No trinkets?????????????

Not even ONE pearl????????????? Oh the pain of it all.....

Sounded like fun!!

Sounds like a blast (and such a dream of mine!) I don''t know how I could ever go to NYC and not come out with some kind of jewelry...

It was my total intention to buy at least one piece of jewelry. But considering it took me 9 months to choose a diamond and another few months to get a setting, I suppose it was too much to think that I''d manage to choose something in NYC in less than a week! Ha!

I will post a couple of pictures of my girls...they are cuter to look at than me!!!

Yeah, I guess I see your point there! Glad you had a blast!

Times Square (incidentally, this is the daughter I have on the LIW list)

Umm Junior''s! That''s one of my fave new additions to Times Square. I pick up their mini-black & white cookies almost every time I''m in the city for work.
3.gif
Andrews is so close to my DH''s office! Ahhh NYC. But NO TRINKETS? You''re too good, lady. Too Good.

I didn''t realize you were close to NYC!!! I wish I could have met all the PSer''s in the area, but darn family...they just expected me to do things with them a lot of the time!

I guess I''ll have to order something from NYC so I don''t let down my reputation as a true PSer.

For some reason, I am not sure Harriet would have thought that a fair trade. However, it was very fun to try it on!

hi diamondseeker :)

i''m so glad you had a great time in NYC. my husband works on wall street and we live in westchester co., the first county above the 5 burroughs. if you come again, i''d love to organize a get-together with you; there''s so many PS''s here, it''d be great fun!

i''m thinking of trying to organize something for Christmas or late fall (i''m out of the country and tied up till late october); perhaps we can persuade you to make a return visit? would love to meet :)

where do you live? did you have to come far?

I would love to meet you, Whitby! I live in NC, so it is not a long flight. I would love to come again! We had talked about having a big get-together in NYC at some point, but I have been too busy to be one of the planners. I had such a good time and realized how easy it really is to get around, so I definitely want to come again!
