DH called me this afternoon and told me that the puplet was throwing up and was having some accidents in the house because he couldn''t get out quick enough. This never happens. I had him call the vet and a little while later he was perked up some, so it was decided to wait until morning. I''m home now and he''s clearly not himself. He''s thrown up again and I just got him outside in time a few mins ago. He''s going straight to the vet in the morning.

If you have some spare dust or get well vibes, can you send some to the little guy?

Lots of dust for your pup. Is it possible he ate something bad outside.? My guy does this sometimes.

poor baby. I hope he feels better pronto!

I asked DH that exact question. He doesn''t know. We watch him fairly closely when he goes out and there''s really not anything in the backyard, but who knows. He can be kind of dumb like that- maybe he ate a weed. There''s plenty of those in our yard.....

I''m so sorry - I hope your pup gets better soon

Ugh. He just threw up again. It''s all bile as we took his food away. Poor little guy.

Poor puppy! I hope your puppy feels better soon!

I hate when my dogs are having problems - it gets my stomach all tied up in knots. Usually it is something they ate, especially if only bile is coming out, like yellowish in color. I''ve placed rice and chicken in the food and that helps catch the bad stuff in their tummy.

I hope everything is okay!

Oh, darlin'', definitely loads of dust coming your way.

If you have any Nutrical in the house anywhere, giving the puplet a little dose for the electrolytes can''t hurt, and a big +1 for Elegant''s suggestion on the meat and rice idea to help absorb that excess bile if you don''t.

oh im so sorry AprilD

so much dust and prayers coming your way for your pup...

Duuuuuuussssssssttt.

Healing dust coming to your pup... let us know what the vet says?

Awww April, poor puppy. D.O.G. had that problem a few months ago and we traced it to his food (either Beneful or The Good Life, can''t remember which). So make sure you consider all avenues for the source...I hope he feels better soon!

Poor puppy. Chicken and rice (both plain) might be worth a shot, and definitely let us know what the vet says.

Good thoughts headed your way that puppy is OK again soon!

Ditto on the bland diet. That''s the first thing the vet will tell you. Also, make sure your puppy is getting enough water. A few months ago we took our dog to our in-laws, and my MIL let Belle eat her dogs'' food, her cats'' food and people food in addition to Belle''s regular food. The result was not pretty. Belle had to spend the day after we got home hooked up to an IV at the vet b/c she was so dehydrated and stay on chicken and rice for the next week.

I hope your baby gets better soon. I always feel so bad when Belle is sick, because she can''t tell me what''s wrong and always lays there looking so pathetic.

DH has him at the vet as we speak. I''ll update once they get home. Thanks for all the dust and get well wishes.

He seems better this morning, but I wanted him seen by the vet anyway. He threw up two or three times overnight and had one accident. Thankfully, I''d locked him in our bathroom, which is tiled (and the grout is sealed). I''m hoping whatever it is has worked its way out of his system. I''ve got chicken thawing out and rice ready to go. Something tells me he''ll LOVE a "bland" diet of chicken and rice. He doesn''t get people food, so this will be thrilling to him.

Argh! Post monster just ate my post!

They''re back from the vet. Nothing identifably wrong with him. They gave him an IV just in case he might be a little dehydrated and also put some anti-nausea medicine in it. His temp was slightly elevated, but nothing concerning. They sent him home with some medicine to combat diarrhea and some canned food that is the equivalent of chicken and rice. We''re supposed to give him some in an hour or so and see how he tolerates it. He really does seem better this morning. He was pretty darn puny last night.

Poor baby. I''m glad they didn''t find anything serious - hopefully it''s all out of his system now and he will start feeling better.

I''m glad to hear he doesn''t have anything major.

Boil-in-bag rice is fantastic for dog food, super cheap and easy to make.

All is right in his world! If I needed more proof of his full and miraculous recovery, I have it now. He has resumed an activity that will remain unnamed with his bed..... He is DEFINITELY feeling better.

LOL! Glad he is "up and at it" again!

Glad to hear you little baby is doing better and it wasn''t anything serious.

I have gone through this many times with my dog. The one thing is when he throws up more than once a day, I usually withold all food and will give him just a liitle water to make sure he tolerates it. (You can usually withold food and water up to 24 hrs). Then I just give plain cooked white rice ( a few tsps -without the chicken as the protein can be a little much at first) and see how he does with that. Then a few hours later a little more rice and then wait a few more hours to give a little chicken with the rice. I try not to give too much water as the rice will have a good amount in it. If all is well after 24 hours, I give rice with a tiny bit of kibble (I mix the kibble in warm water and the rice) and thengradually give more kibble than rice until he''s back to his 3/4 cups per day.

For diarrhea I give caned pumpkin (Libby''s) and I swear it works! Stops the runs quickly.

Sometimes dogs eat the wrong things, eat a bit too much and then drink alot of water too quickly (especially now in this heat), or are too active too soon after they eat and it can make them throw up. Kids are a bit like that too!

aww poor pup. the vet always told us that if there is throw up and diaharrea it''s ok for up to 2-3 days as long as they are (a) drinking water and (b) eating something. and if they are not (b) eating something then at least (a) drinking water. also typically if they are willing to PLAY at all then they are probably just dealing with something that will pass.

this has only not worked for us once, when portia ended up having some sort of doggie flu she needed meds for. i waited 2 days and then she wasn''t eating and playing so we took her in and got the meds. but i don''t panic as much anymore if she is having digestion issues as long as she is not lethargic, not drinking water, etc. just a hint for the future!! we used to panic a lot too but those vet bills can be pricey!

Good point on the activity piece- that''s actually what freaked me out more than the throwing up. He''s normally my shadow and follows me everywhere and LOVES to play. Not last night. Laid on the floor and only got up to puke.

He''s back to ALL his normal activities this afternoon- barking at cars, protecting me from DH when he dares to enter my office, and drinking water/eating the food the vet sent us home with. Now all he needs is a bath to rid him of all the stink he acquired in the last 24 hours.

Thanks for everyone''s well wishes. We both appreciate it greatly!!!!

dust dust dust

i know that dogs are like family! my dogs both have behaved like that before. my hope for you is that he just ate something bad- i''m sure he''ll be ok!

and i''m a little late- glad to hear he''s back to normal!

So glad to hear he''s doing better! Our older dog is prone to bacterial infections in his tummy and it''s never fun to have to clean up after both ends! Thank goodness your pup is back to his old self!
