I know there''s a few "Porsche''o''philes here so maybe someone can commiserate.

My car was parked right in my driveway at 11am this morning.
I had the garage door open, and the car on the driveway because I had a guy doing some work in the garage.
He laughed when I said I wanted to put the car outside- I was afraid something would fall on it- he mentioned how I took such special care of that car.
I left the car outside, right in front of the garage door and went upstairs to get ready for work.
When I came down 10 minutes later, no car.
The workman said he thought I''d just gotten in the car and driven away.

The keys were hanging next to my front door- the policeman who took the report said not to hang them there anymore- right.

Thankfully I''m insured- although I gues I''m out for the brand new tires I just put on it last week. UGH!!!!!

Should I get another one?

Sad sad story.

Sigh.

What a lousy way to start a weekend and holiday season. As far as getting another, if this one worked for you then go for it! I too have a convertible (BMW Z3), and love it. But my next one will be a larger vehicle, simply becaseu I am approaching kid raising time, and will need the extra space.

Another Boxter, or perhaps you could try one of the Lexus hardtop convertibles (although they are WAY pricey)? I love those- benefits of both the convertible and the coupe.

I was thinking of maybe an M3 convert?

I agree- 2 seaters can hold you back. The one limiting thing about the Boxster was that you could ony take along one person

IMO, the Lexus convertibles are the cream of the crop.

Sorry to hear about this--I would be enraged.

M3 convert sounds LOVELY, and if you are looking at perhaps going to 4 seat capability, the new Audi 4 seater is pretty darn nice!

Oh man oh man. I feel for you! That is the sickest feeling. My family had a new car stolen right after I got my DL at age 16.

Keep a grip, man!
Perish the thought of those other cars! (fending off Feydakin with a rolled-up newspaper!)

Here...Check out these Porsche-liscious pics of the 2005 Boxster...Mmmmm!

Yum.
If you don't get yours back, just listen...you can hear this one chanting "David...! David...!"
(kick that guy in the driver's seat out - it's your spot)

Yer Killin me John!!!!

That picture reminds me of a favorite trick with the boxster- get it up to 100 on a back road with no one behind you a DROP THE ANCHOR!!!!!! I loved that.

My Porsche dealer has an Anniversary model Boxter S with a couple of thousand miles on it. It''s the same color as.......

I know exactly what John is talking about - after living with this car for 2 years I hate the thought of NOT being able to drive it.
I''m test driving the M3 tommorrow-

I found out that the car has a Lojack- quite an amazing thing.
I bought the car with about 3000 miles on it- and never activated the Lojack- but here''s the cool thing.
Once the police enter the VIN number of a stolen car onto the nation wide database, the Lojack is automatically activated.

But at this point, I could never feel the same way about my car..... I mean that car.

John, and everyone - thanks.
About 3pm, when I was at a very low point, I realized something.
I get to test drive new cars tomorrow! A really fun thing! And after all it''s only a car- and can be replaced.

If only all losses were so easy to replace.

David - You're very welcome. Way to keep it in perpective. I hope I would be as composed (picturing self-explosion).

Seriously, have a blast tomorrow driving any and everything! With cars of this quality, each one has its own terrific personality. My guilty confession is that I've had some 'Vette envy here and there (no wisecracks, Steve!).

The lojack option is great. I have considered having it added to mine... My '03 Boxster only has 9000 miles on it, but I've turned and burned EVERY one of those miles

... Methinks I drive my daily car (a Ford Exploder) a little hard because I can't wait to get home and switch to the "date"car.

Either way - Insurance truly is a great thing in the awful moment you need it.

I''m sooo sorry to hear about your car!!! What a sweet ride, too

I have a 2001 BMW M Roadster and love it. We bought it new and I''ve only put 20,000 miles on it. It''s a dream to drive with 311hp. It''s the last of the M Roadsters, as BMW is not going to make an M version of the Z4. The M3 is an awesome vehicle, too, I just fell for the Roadster styling.

Have fun test driving tomorrow!

Really sorry to hear that David.

You work hard to afford a luxury, and some @#$%& takes it!

But what would be worse - a pay out - or getting it back knowing that somone has thrashed the living b... out of your precious!!!

Oh darn, David. I''m really sorry!!!

Wow- this really is helping me feel better!

Garry- the way I feel now, i would sell the car if it is recovered.

I neve even let anyone fart in the car! I can't bear thinking what theperson who stole it is doing to it.

Another thought I am keeping in mind: Whoever did this needs pity more than hate. An honest man can always go to sleep at night knowing he did the right thing. I wonder what devils some people must live with.

John, I've been having some "Vette thoughts"- is this casue to seek further analysis?
The new vette's been getting rave reviews....

David... I wonder if this is a common cross-culture (Porsche-Vette). The guy nextdoor (Vette owner) and I wash cars together some weekends so we can openly "covet thy neighbor's sweet ride."

If the PCA is reading this I'm going to lose cool points, but if my garage suddenly grew another slab, THIS would go there as soon as I could sell a slightly used kidney on the black market and make it possible. Methinks it is the most coolest one since the '84 version.

What do you guys think of the Viper? I have a male friend that has some version of it that is faster than others

Yes, I''m a such a girl

and not sure what the technical name is........and on that note, I feel like I''m eavesdropping on some really cool male club

UGH--i''m so sorry to hear that--people are such a$$holes! it infuriates me!

we recently had two suitcases of our stuff stolen from our doorstep (we had our hands full of luggage so we left them there while we went inside to unload the rest)--much smaller theft, but still! i was so angry! funny enough, the cop that came to see us pulled the same irritating routine--"you shouldn''t have left them there". THANKS ACE.

It''s creepy to think of someone watching your house and walking right up and finding your keys. I hope they catch the %^%$@#^&!

that sucks about your car... you should be able to leave the keys in the ignition, with the doors open and expect it to be there in the morning.

as for your new car, I say go with your heart. but then again, I don''t know anything about cars - I have to take the bus... lol

I want that car too! And I''m not really a car person. Whenever I see it, I say to my husband "Look honey, there''s my car!"

I''m so sorry for your loss...Kinda creepy that someone knew where to get the keys...Glad you had it insured though! Anyway, since you''re shopping - here''s my dream ride - http://www.astonmartin.com/thecars/v12vanquishs Btw, they can do a 2+2 as your friends will defintely want a ride! Happy shopping!

Sorry to hear about your car. It''s an awful experience.

I am a convertible person and everything is just so seamless and luxurious.... I love it!

Gee David, sorry to hear of your car being stolen.
face11.gif
The first thing that came to my mind was that the guy working in your garage might have had something to do with it...do you suppose he could have called a "friend" over and had him steal the car for him, knowing that you were getting ready for work and wouldn''t notice?
face5.gif

Wow David, I'm really sorry to hear about your car. Just amazing that it was in your driveway in broad daylight!

Libster, I have the BMW M Roadster also, and just love it. (Mine is the 2000 with 260(?) hoursepower, so not quite as fast as yours, but still just a screamer.) I had the non-convertible version of the Lexus coupe before that and it is a great cross between luxury and performance, but not quite a true sports car drive like the BMW or Porsche. The thing I don't like about the new Lexus coupe (sexy as it is,) is that the top fills the trunk, so if you have another person and the top down, you have NO place for anything else. Really puts a crimp in shopping.

David, I''m so sorry to hear about your car. I know how it is to be attached to a car like that....my vette was "my baby" too. (That is why we had a second one...I wouldn''t let Phil touch mine!) You know how I feel about vettes. If you''re test driving, I think you owe it to yourself to check them out too.
