I called to confirm that the MAC lady who did my trial would be doing it on my wedding day. She''s on emergency maternity leave! I hope she''s ok, but I was so bummed out! She did perfect on my trial, so I''m worried now. I plan on bringing that same picture I brought to her AND the pictures of me from the trial. I hope it turns out ok.

Perhaps you could schedule a trial with the person who will be doing your make-up? If so, I would definitely request that that trail be free or at least discounted because of the switch, and because you were not contacted about the change.

Honestly, I'm surprised that the place didn't contact you to let you know: "by the way, remember the fabulous make-up artist who did your wedding make-up trial and made you feel comfortable about your wedding day make-up? Yeah... she's not going to be doing your day-of make-up." Were they planning to spring that on you on your wedding day??? Not cool.

I hope your make-up artist and her little one are OK!

Courtney - it pays to be organized! Glad you checked. Hope the artist is OK.

I agree with aprilcait - I''d schedule a trial with the person you will be getting on your wedding day, and I also agree with her that it should be complementary.

Ack!!! I do hope she okay, but that is a bummer

Although with your gorgeous face, it's a bit hard to screw it up.

You are doing the right thing and taking the picture. It's too bad you don't know who she would recommend in her absence. But, again, she probably didn't have any idea she wouldn't be available.

But there isn't a doubt in my mind that you will look awesome on your wedding day.

ETA: Oooh, they didn't even let you know first??? That's rude. That would have me a bit peeved.

They should be calling everyone on her schedule.

I am sorry Courtney, I hope she is okay! Ditto..can you get a trial with the new person?

This is the problem. I know they wouldn''t do a free trial because it''s MAC. They didn''t have to let me know at all because they don''t ever guarentee that a particular artist will be there or not. I kept phone stalking the girl and she told me to call a week before to make sure she would bein the schedule. She said would try to schedule herself (she''s the manager) and was certain she would be there.

Even if I do go and pay $50 for another trial, there''s no guarentee THAT person would be there on Friday. I just have to brnig all my pictures and say "Which of you KNOWS they can make me look exactly like this?"

Oh.

Sigh. Well, it''ll work out. I am sure they are all at least pretty good at it otherwise they wouldn''t be working there, right?

How frustrating. I''m sorry you''re dealing with this.

If I were you, I''d be certainly that you''ve scheduled yourself PLENTY of time for your make-up so that if the make-up artist starts doing something funky with your make-up you can tell her and she can fix it (I had to do that multiple times with my make-up lady on the big day).

I''m sure it will work itself out (but that doesn''t make it any less annoying and frustrating for you now). Who knows, you might even end up with someone you like even better. Crossing my fingers for you!

Oh.

Well, that sucks, that ANY person could show up on your wedding day.

But thankfully you have pictures of the EXACT make-up you want - do you also have the exact colors that were used? I think what April said about allowing extra time is a good idea. I''m sure everything will be fine, but a little precaution won''t hurt.

So you had a good time at your bachelorette? And are you still recovering? And do we get to see photos?

I wish I knew the exact colors, but I don't. I'm super bummed. I hope it turns out ok. That's actually what I'm mostly worried about...my hair and makeup.

Many makeup counters have ''maps'' ... drawings of faces that the artists put makeup on (the same places they put it on your face) and then they write down all the products used. Doesn''t MAC do that?

Hey can you post a pic from your MAC trial? I just got done with my Chanel trial, but it wasn''t quite as dramatic as I had hoped. I think MAC might be a little better suited for me. I would love to see pics please!!!!!

Here is my chanel trial.

That''s rubbish! That''s good that you have a photo though-I''ve always found that the mac make-up artists are fab so I''m sure that the one on your wedding day will be no different.

AW CRAP courtney!!!!!! I feel for you.

That really stinks. But Im sure whoever comes to do your makeup will do a good job. You could always watch while they are applying and if something is going wrong..."STOP!!!!!!!!! That''s not what I wanted!!!!!!!!" Im sure it will be ok though......

ljsmith001- I LOVEEE Chanel''s makeup....

Especially their eyeshadows.

Awe, Courtney, that really stinks! I''m sorry you''re having a problem with MAC. After my initial issues of being told my makeup would be done by "whoever was there that day," my trial and day of makeup were with the sweetest girl ever! She didn''t charge me at all for the trial, tried to make me only buy the lipstick for the day of (but I wanted the coverup powder and a brush too), and absolutely WOULD NOT take a tip! How crazy is that? Maybe if you ask, they will surprise you?

Courtney, just remember to micro-manager the person who does do your makeup. Don''t be afraid to say, "Heyyyyy, that is wayyyyyy too much blush" or "I would like it darker at the outer creases, please" :::::batting eyelashes::::::

And then again, it isn''t too late yet to book with an independent makeup artist who specializes in MAC. So many consultants leave and start their own business. It''s not too late. You have 3 days left. And no matter what....you are going to be a beautiful bride!!

Courtney, what a bummer that is! I''m sorry about your makeup artist''s leave and hope she is doing alright. However, if I were you, no guarantees or not, I''d be livid at the MAC people. I understand that you probably signed something and were told there were no guarantees about who would be at your wedding, but it sounds like you were in contact with this specific woman and were assured by her that she would do everything she could to be there. Obviously she couldn''t, but they should at least call you out of common courtesy, no matter what their policy is!

Arrghhh.

Regardless, I am sure all the artists are fabulous, and I am sure your makeup the day of will be beautiful. Try to schedule someone to come a little early, as others suggested. Also, is there any way they can contact the MAC lady who did your makeup the first time to find out which colors she used? Or do they keep that info on file somewhere? It seems like since there is no guarantee that the same person will be at both the trial and the wedding that they would keep track of it so the artist the day of will know what to use? Otherwise, what is the point of the trial, you know? I''d check with them about that.

Good luck!

Gypsy - I did ask them if the artist kept my colors, but they said she didn't. I also can't exactly have them call her in the hospital to ask, can I?

I don't really have the time to go for a trial even if it were for free. Do I really want to attempt that 3 days before the wedding anyways? Shouldn't I just relax and take all the pictures with me and ask for the most senior artist?

ljsmith - Here are a couple of pics from the initial trial. Oh and yours looks amazing, by the way.

Ok, I called MAC and scheduled a trial with a girl who is working this afternoon and on Friday. She is going to do my eyes only, so I don''t have to pay anything. I have my picture with me, but I need to print out the ones above. I need to find a quality printer here at work to use.

I will post pics tonight.

I am so GLAD you decided to do a trial.
