And I have absolutely no idea what style I want for either one. I figure, I''ve never done this before but the salon staff has, so I''ll go with what they recommend. I''m not fussy at all -- I never wear makeup and I always wear my hair down. We''ll see what happens. I''ll try to post pics later if I''m brave enough.

don''t know if you left already but for make up I''d ask for a natural look with earthly colors so that it''s not too obvious. if you''re not used to wearing make up and they suddenly put blue or green eye shadow on you it might make you feel like a hooker. even though you won''t look line one of course, but it''ll be a dramatic change.

Have fun! I hope everything goes well, and I really hope you will post pics!

Thanks Noel and Sabine! I just got back and I''ll have to wait until later to post photos. A friend came with me and she used her camera, but she hasn''t e-mailed them to me yet. The salon took photos also but I haven''t gotten them yet.

What I can tell you though is that we put my hair half up with bobby pins, then attached the veil and its comb the the top of my head. Then the girl put the headband on, just in front of the veil. My hair doesn''t hold curls, so it''s already pretty flat, just 90 minutes after leaving the salon.

For the makeup, another girl used Aveda products: Juneberry for the lips and some shade of green for eye liner. Black mascara, too. I like how it looks, but since I don''t ever wear makeup, I have nothing to compare it to. I was surprised at the coor choice she made for my lips though. I thought she''d go darker, maybe a darker berry color.

Sorry I don''t have pics yet but I''ll get them up as soon I receive them.

Sounds like fun, Zoe...can''t wait to see pictures!

Ditto! Can''t wait to see!

Sorry, I should have waited to post until I actually had all the pictures. I do have some that my firiend took, so at least I can post a collage of my hair. The girl at the salon took pics as well but she hasn't e-mailed them to me yet.

I had actually forgotten that I had wanted the veil to be in the back, not draping over my shoulder, as shown. Ugh, I wish I had better pics to show you what I mean. The only one I have (that's somewhat good enough to post) is a view from the back.

What do you think? I should mention that I didn't go in with any photos or ideas. I sat down and let them do their thing. It's a salon near our venue (which is over an hour away from where we live), so it's not my usual salon.

I promise to post more pics as soon as I get them.

Zoe, your hair is gorgeous!!! I love the thickness and the colour and how silky it looks! I also love the curls, although did you say you were worried that they wouldn't last? It looks gorgeous! Are you going to have any hair clips or just the veil? I don't know what's normally done for bridal hair (or even if there is a 'normal'?). Can't wait to see your other pics!

Thanks Gwen! I actually have very fine hair, which is probably why it doesn't hold a curl very well. The stylist will need to use a whole can of hair spray when she styles my hair on our wedding day, just to make the curls stay. It's funny to see it so long now! My hair is usually a bob, cut to just above my shoulders. I'm getting used to it long, but it doesn't have much of a style anymore. I think I'll cut it after the wedding. It's fun to play with for the time being though.

ETA: You had asked if I'll use clips. I thought I bought a clip but it was so long ago, and I clearly didn't remember what was actually in the bag. When I opened it, I was surprised to see a headband. Hmmm... It's pretty but it's not what I kept picturing. Keep in mind, I had looked at a ton of things one day, and I'm sure I ended up just picking something out at one point. I'll wear it so it sits right up against my veil. Oh, this probably means that I can't wear my veil much lower on my head, huh?

Gosh, Zoe...your hair looks so HEALTHY!!! I am so jealous of that!

I think a few pins or a clip of some sort might help you maintain the hairstyle a little better, but it looks nice, as is. I think the problem is that your hair looked way too clean and shiny...mine never holds curling iron curls if my hair is too clean...I believe they say you should wash your hair the night before, but everyone is different.

Do you plan to wear your veil all evening or take it off after the ceremony? If you plan to take it off, I say to definitely go for a barrette or clip of some sort.

HTH!

Harleigh,

Thank you! I think we were posting at the same time. I''m not sure yet if I''ll wear the veil during the reception. Yes, I was also told to wash my hair the night before but not the day of.

ZB you have lovely hair!
It doesn''t sound like you want what you have equipment-wise. Could they just pin it back? If your hair doesn''t have that much weight, it can be pinned up a bit, but with the curls down, and then the veil will hang lower and not over the shoulders. I too wanted it that way so as to not widen my bod at its widest point.

Also, a bit of caution about the veil at the reception. I thought it would be a good idea...but everyone wants to hug you. And you will want to hug everyone and that is tricky with a veil. A tennis bracelet snagged a huge hole in mine, and DH kept tugging it accidentally and about scalped me. Oh, and I forgot to have it up for the ceremony so was sweltering under that. How does mesh trap heat? oy.

Totally, her hair looks so soft! I think it looks great, and it sounds like everyone else has great ideas for any ways to improvement so sorry I''m not contributing much, just wanted to comment that your hair is beautiful!

I missed this, Zoe! Your hair looks great! I had a similar style, and mine doesn''t hold a curl well either because it''s pretty heavy. I''m not sure what the stylist did, but he managed to make it so that it (mostly) survived the heat and humidity really well. Thank god for hairspray, or shellac, or whatever he used.

Zoe I think your hair looks great! I know you already bought the headband, but it sounds like you would like to wear the veil back farther on your head. Do you think you could find something other than the headband like a clip or bobbypins that you could wear instead so that you could do that?

Thanks everyone! Sabine, the sides were pulled back and pinned with bobby pins, and I know many more will be used for the actual day. If I can''t find a clip between now and then, I may just use bobby pins. I do like how the headband looks when it sits up against the veil, but I do want the veil to sit lower on my head. For some reason, I have the idea that using a headband is "so 80s," and I''m just not sure about it. We''ll see if I can find something else to use.

I finally got a few pictures back from the salon and I thought I''d post them.

I wore an ivory shirt that day since my dress is ivory as well. Here''s your chance to vote -- glasses or no glasses. I''m still on the fence.

First up: extreme close up

Here I am without glasses on. Notice the puffiness under my eyes? I can''t get rid of it, no matter what I try.

And finally, with glasses on.

What do you think? The makeup is all Aveda I believe. The eye liner is green and my eyelids have grey shadow (I think), which surprised me. My lips are pink, which isn''t what I was expecting. Although I don''t wear makeup, I was expecting some sort of darker berry color on my lips and a different shade on my eyes.

Origins makes a nice puff reducing cream with mushrooms in it.

Zoe, I am going to be of no help to you with the glasses/no glasses thing because I think you look beautiful both ways. Whatever you think is more comfortable and more ''you'' is I think what you should go with, but either way you will look lovely.

ditto, you are going to look fabulous either way!

Thanks IWPO, Gwen, and Sabine! I like how the makeup is subtle, and it made me think about possible wearing some from time to time after the wedding.
