I'm due with our second (a little girl) in about 6 weeks, and my main nesting project was her dresser/changing table. It just got finished, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! I've never done a major overhaul on a piece of furniture before, and it turned out exactly as I'd imagined it would.

Before: high quality solid wood dresser, but well-loved and worn. $80 on Craigslist.

After: 3 coats of Annie's Sloan chalk paint in "pure white," 1 coat of ASCP wax everywhere, 2 coats on the top. Cabinet face routed out and replaced with radiator covering painted gold. Knobs replaced with ceramic pink rose knobs.

It looks great! Congratulations on your impending new arrival and on completing a DIY project. I am notorious for lacking discipline to complete DIY projects but I have a great time getting half-way through each of them :))

I love DIY! Congratulations on your upcoming arrival too! I have wondered about using chalk paint and how difficult it is to master. You did a great job! I love the vent as it adds interest.

Beautiful work!

Looks amazing!!!

I am planning to do the same with an old dining room cabinet and large buffet that are butt ugly. I have been stalking Pintrest for ideas. I have only stripped painted furniture and stained...not the reverse. I am thinking a charcoal grey. it is my summer time project. Your's looks fab!

That turned out so cute...looks like something you would buy at a high end boutique!

Congratulations on your new little one! Its so nice when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I love it! My favorite projects are up cycling furniture.

Congratulations on both counts. It looks fabulous. You did an amazing job!

You did a fantastic job Hayley. Congrats your expecting your second baby girl. Enjoy this happy time of your life. They grow up so quickly.

That turned out to be a gorgeous piece! The furniture is the same that I bought my daughter for her baby boy - I just love it - but it is as pretty in white as it was in the original color. Congrats on the new baby on the way - she is going to have a beautiful room!!

Thank you! This was my first time using chalk paint, and I chose it because my cousin said it's really forgiving for painting newbies (I've painted many rooms, but not much furniture). The best thing is, chalk paint requires no sanding/stripping beforehand--you can just start painting! YouTube has really helpful painting and waxing tutorials.

Fun! This was my first time using chalk paint, and it was so easy that I picked up a nice wooden rocking chair to paint a pretty greige for our room (ASCP "French linen"). Good luck with your projects!

Thank you! We have our fingers crossed that she'll be a better sleeper than our son (who had me up every 2 hours, every night, until he was 16 months old...whew! He was very nearly an only child ;) ), but it is absolutely a happy time, and we've seen already how quickly he grows! It'll be a new adventure to watch her with the perspective I have from how time flew with our son.

Wow it turned out beautifully! You did an awesome job. Congrats on your new addition!! ::)

Are you going to try to get the rocking chair done before your daughter arrives? Good luck on both...keep us all posted!

Yep! I've got all the paint on, and now it just needs wax. I'm 33 weeks, so I'm going to get the wax done this week before I'm too too unwieldy-huge

WOW! You had incredible foresight, seeing what that piece could be with some creativity and elbow grease. Gorgeously done, and congrats on your soon-to-be new bundle of joy!

That came out so pretty!! What a great successful project!

Thank you! I'm really happy with how the radiator sheet metal turned out, and I wasn't quite sure how that would look.

Thanks! :)

What an amazing changing table that turned out to be!! Definitely looks just like a pricey high-end furnishing. Well done, and congratulations on your upcoming!

Wow! I love it! I like your use of crown molding around the top. How did you attach this? Does it add a little "lip" around the edges?
