Spanx has been mentioned an awful lot on various threads as a great underdress slimmer. This weekend, I took a little trip to get myself a pair and thought I''d share what I found. Nothing profound or anything, but I was planning to order them off the spanx website and I''m really glad I went in person.
Originally, I thought I''d want the Slim Cognito Seamless Mid-Thigh Bodysuit $68.00
Description
**Go undercover with the SPANX Slim Cognito Mid-Thigh Bodysuit! This shaper comfortably shapes problem areas, accentuates your waistline, minimizes your tummy and thighs, lifts your rear, and makes inches seem to disappear! The detachable straps attach to your bra to keep the bodysuit in place and allow you to wear the bra that''s best for you - and your outfit! And to avoid the flat, uni-butt look that many shapers give your backside, Slim-Cognito offers "The Great Divide." You won''t feel the subtle butt separator, but the natural perky shape won''t be lost on those in your wake!
Fabric Content: 80% Nylon, 18% Spandex/Elastane, 2% Cotton**
I thought it''d be perfect because it has little hooks so you can attach your own bra into and prevent any rolling down. This is a serious undergarment!! I had to struggle a little to get it one, because it is very, very, very tight and strong -- but it certainly does hold you in. There are also no seams which is great, however, it''s a little thick and i thought i might be very hot with it on.
Then, I came across the Higher Power $34.00
Description
Just how high does Higher Power go? Let''s just say the savvy women at SPANX took the Power Panties and extended the control above the waistline -- all the way up to just the south of the "twin peaks." Higher Power eliminates VPL, and slims, smoothes and shapes the figure from the lower thighs up through the midriff.
Fabric Content: 87% Nylon, 13% Lycra® Spandex/Elastane
While, I couldn''t try it on, the salesgirl explained that it''s a thinner material than the first option. It didn''t have the bra hooks, but it was half the price and basically made the same promise as the other. I took it home and tried it on and thought it was brilliant. Much easier to get on and much thinner and more breathable and it didn''t roll down -- yet still holds everything in place...
My only complaint is that there is a seam up the front and back, kind of like the one on pantyhose and if your dress is super tight/thin material, you might be able to see the seam.
Hope that helps.
Also, I was told that spanx goes on sale in July (something about an anniversary) which was too late to help me, but maybe some others...
