I still have an embarrassingly large watch collection though reduced from my 70 plus.
These are my two vintage Elgin watches.
The one on the left is a men’s watch known as the Touchdown 202 or mermaid watch. It is a keenly sort model and I’m lucky enough to own one. The dial is original and that’s the best way to keep vintage watches. The case is 14kt rolled gold ie not solid gold. I have paired it with a gold filled art deco stretch band.
The one on the right is known as the Lady and the Tiger watch. The story is the princess had to choose a fate for her beloved from one door or the other. Behind one door was a tiger who would devour the man, behind the other door was a royal lady who, if that door was chosen, would marry the Princesses beloved. The Princess knew what was behind the doors, so which door did she choose? This watch is also desirable and is in 14kt white gold. It is in very good condition, no enameled loss, and I’ve paired it with an Art Deco gold filled and black enamel watch band.
