Aw, Matilda looks like my kitties! That was really cute!

HAHAHAHAHA! I think Matilda might be my Bentley''s soul mate! My cat''s odd animal preferences:

1. Wake-up time is 6:30 am, even though the alarm clock is set for 7. He believes that eyes open=awake, so if you don''t wake up when he demands, he puts his paws on your eyebrows and pushes up so that he opens your eyes for you. He thinks he''s doing you a favor. A morning with Bentley generally goes something like this.

2. Bentley believes himself to be a stunning typist, infinitely better than myself or my husband. For this reason, if your hands are on a keyboard, so are Bentley''s paws.

3. The box fan in our bedroom is not for air circulation. It is Bentley''s portal to stardom, and he is Michael Jackson. DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE MAKING OF HIS MUSIC VIDEO. He gets disgruntled!

4. Bentley requires the same amount of bed space as anyone else in the bed, and if you dare enter his space, he will kick you off the bed.

5. There''s no such thing as a solo. If you''re singing, Bentley''s singing.

6. Water must be perfectly lukewarm. Once the water goes in his bowl, he glares at you until he feels a sufficient amount of time has passed to let his water get to the proper temperature. At this point, he checks it, and if it''s not right, he expects a refill. He lets you know this by sticking his foot in the water and flinging it at you until you get tired of him making a mess.

7. Litter=confetti, and potty time is party time.

8. He thinks his name is "Chicken." I kid you not, this cat will come running from anywhere in the house if he hears you say "chicken."

Hehehe! Thanks for sharing! I love how odd cats are, and that cat in the pictures is so cute!

Bella scoops her dry food into her water bowl. She likes it mushy. She smacks at it w/her paw to make it stay under water and get nicely soaked..and makes a gigantic mess. I bought separate bowls..so she scoops it out and slides it across the floor and up into the water bowl. Britta runs around the house all crazy..and runs up the walls and doors and leaps off-she gets clear up by the ceiling when she does it too..oddest thing I''ve ever seen. Cats rock. I would like to be a cat and run around and act super crazy and weird all day and make my people raise their eyebrows and say WTF?

Oh my gosh doodle- where are pictures of your cat?!?!?! Also, PLEASE post some sort of singing video on youtube, I really wish to see it!!!!

My cats prefer water that is supposed to be going into my mouth- ex. my glasses, water bottles.... I have had water spilled on my head on 4 different occassions- around 4 in the morning each time and I was SOAKED! haha

BTW this is a really weird question- do any of your cats "talk" to each other? It''s not meowing- it''s like this strange CLICKING noise. I tried to get it on video but you can''t hear it good enough... it''s the strangest thing ever! It''s when we are playing with the laser pointer they do it and it''s like this clicking noise they talk to each other in!

Ha how cut is Matilda

Here''s Bentley marveling over the oddity of snow in Georgia in March! He kept slapping the glass--I guess he thought something was wrong with the window, haha! I wish I could get him to sing on video, but as soon as a camera comes out, he starts glaring at me and won''t be funny anymore.

He does the clicking, chirping thing, too. My vet said it''s a really common Maine Coone trait.

My kitties do this when they see something outside and are interested in it. Bugs and birds, usually. If you look up bengal cats on youtube, there are TONS of videos of them clicking. It''s apparently pretty common!

Okay, my computer confuses me--that picture is only sideways when I post it! Argh! Sorry about that!

In my house this is called "talking to birds voice" Yes, we''re very creative. But this clicky voice is reserved only for birds, never the other cat. And only one cat does it.

Gypsy: Thank you for posting that link. Very funny. I posted this before but what the hay - here goes #2. I read all about cats when we got the boys and one book said cats need a large water vessel for dinking water so their whiskers will not touch the bowl and they will not drink water which has any chemicals in it (ie flouride), they require the water to ''air'' for abotu 24 hrs before they will drink. What Horse crap! I have tried putting almost thimble sizes water glasses by our bedside in an attempt to out wit the night time ''drinking from the water glass'' cats. They just shove their heads in....right in. I got realllllly clever and used a tall flute.....they were ever more clever 2 out of 3 cats went water fishing with their paws and sucked the water off their feet, the other thought that was silly

and knocked the glass over to spill the tasty water.

Doodle - What a great post! I love pussy cats. They are super. All of this is true! I call the cat''s getting up time cats-o-clock. Because it changes depending on what time we have to get up. Usually about an hour after we fall asleep or have to get up. And they are in cahoots. They never wail and go out at the same time - oh no. That would be too easy and DH and I would get lazy
32.gif
. SO we get up 3 times in a night for the flaming cats. Pavlov knew nothing - cats training humans; that is the real experiment.......

I''m shocked if I manage to get a full nights sleep with our tat.

He likes to play around 3am. When I say play, its chases throughout the house at a bout a hundred miles an hour then he comes crashing into our room has a few loud meows then its back to out skite across the floor. Then if i get up, he''s dragged his blankies (he has 3) around the house, so you''ll find them in different rooms. I then need to check if he''s got water, food, biccies and if not replenish that, give him some loves until he''s settled then try and get back to sleep.

He''s a bloody nightmare!!!

Oh and he''s decided that he doesn''t like catfood anymore, its either cold meats or tuna *sigh*

It''s called chattering. Look it up on youtube.

Ahhhh, that was adorable, Gyps! Thanks for sharing!

Our vet calls it "chittering" - and Boo does it like CRAZY when he sees birds outside the window.
In fact, I can be standing at the window and say, "BIRDS, Boo! Come see the BIRDS!" and he will come running from wherever he is, ALREADY CHITTERING in anticipation! It's hilarious!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that blog - my mom and the people at the shelter (that''s where I volunteer) turned me on to it, and I love reading it. Some of the pictures are impossibly cute, and I just love how well they clearly understand cat behavior

Got a question.

My tat is an indoor cat but has decided that he wants to go outside so when the door is open he makes a break for it and if we're not fast enough he's out eating the grass.

Now I don't mind but we have a really busy road outside our house and I'm concerned he's going to get through the hedge and run out onto the road. Plus, he's getting wide - he's now venturing further away from the door and when we go to get him he's playing tig and running away.

So I was thinking about a kitty harness and extendable leash so that I can let him out but know he's not going to get too far.

Advice, thoughts, experience anyone?
