Movie name help

Hello,

I am trying to remember the name of a movie. I believe it was in the 80s or 90s maybe and it was about a family in maybe the 50s (maybe earlier) that had a warehouse (of appliances or furniture?) or something and there were 2 brothers and they set a fire in the warehouse by accident. It took place in NYC. The boy was very cute. The family I believe had just immigrated so maybe it was before the 50s. That is all I remember and don't know what to google or what to put in IMDB to find it. Please help me? Thanks!!!

Can you think of one of the actors' names? Would you recognize a pic of the "cute boy" if you saw it?

Cute boys of the 80's were Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, River Phoenix, Ralph Maccio, Kirk Cameron, Andrew McCarthy, Cary Elwes, John Stamos, Rick Shroeder, Andrew Shue (my personal favorite!).

Any of them sound familiar??

I googled and the only thing I came up w/is Forever Young. Elijah Wood was in it.

When I googled it, Bronx Tale sounded right namewise. I know it was mafia family related I believe. The boy was very young (maybe 10?). I know it was not Forever Young (that was Mel Gibson right?). And those actors pp mentioned were older. I will look at that at other movie.

i've never seen bronx tale, but that could be it.

my first thought was "this boy's life" w/leonardo dicaprio from 1993. i saw this movie & i don't think the plot matches up w/what you described but i thought i'd throw it out there for you. good luck trying to figure it out! i hate it when that happens to me.

Thank you!!!! I could hug you! That's it. It is Avalon. Ahhhhhh relief. I now need to see it again. And it was Elijah Wood! It was one of his first movies. 1990. You have a great memory - that is 20 something years ago.
