I saw these two videos on YouTube today, and I thought it might be interesting for people here to see.

The first video is on the making of Kundan-Jadau Jewelry, which is a style of traditional jewelry from the North. I would say most people that I meet usually refer to it just as Jadau jewelry and call it Kundan only when semi-precious stones are used; but there's no consistency in the use of the term. Here, they're using precious stones (Polki, or uncut diamond), and a style of jewelry making which is the most traditional.

The other video is on the making of Meenakari jewelry, which is enamel jewelry. The interesting thing is, meenakari is applied to the back of almost every jadau piece you will buy. So imagine all these intricate patterns, but no one sees them! In meenakari jewelry, the enamelling is done both on the top and the bottom, so it's actually visible when worn. I love meena work! It can be made with or without stones (but when stones are set, it's usually using the kundan technique. So both types of jewelry are symbiotic in a way).

As an aside - all of the jewelry is fully handmade, like, you can't machine make this stuff.

Hope you enjoy!
