I just thank god this is fun for some of you. I'm starting to regard it as a root canal.

So far I've got:

Couch: In Smoke which is a Charcoal that can look a bit like expresso in various lighting. Due for delivery in 3 weeks

http://www.bassettfurniture.com/Left-Chaise-Sectional-Custom-Living-Room-Sectionals--DZ20241.asp

Coffee Table : http://www.ethanallen.com/product?productId=567&categoryId=8105

Rug I'm hoping works because I just lost my patience and ordered something. http://www.rugstudio.com/CAPEL2Albemarle-Medallion300.aspx

And for my dining room (it's all one big room) I bought these as a centerpiece to pull the gray into there: http://www.zgallerie.com/p-9893-lithe-vases-grey.aspx Three of them in two different heights and bought these to put into them only in a smoke grey: http://www.zgallerie.com/p-8629-flower-stem-clear-set-of-3.aspx

I also have some 60 stems of gorgeous super high quality red popplies I would like to stick in a lovely cream or white vase, if I can find the right one for it. Like a Floor Vase maybe.

I'm loving this thing btw: http://www.zgallerie.com/p-8875-porcelain-filigree-urn-white.aspx

So What I need is to bring in a TON of cream for contrast as my rug is not going to provide any.

I'm willing to consider one lovely Lamp like this: http://www.crateandbarrel.com/decorating-and-accessories/table-desk-lamps/kathryn-table-lamp/s453889 I've seen it in person and loved everything but the price tag.

And I need wall art. http://www.etsy.com/listing/60189720/red-poppies-photo-8x8-20x20-cm?ref=sr_gallery_5&ga_search_query=red&ga_search_type=category&ga_category=art.photography&ga_page=362 I like photographic art best. I love poppies and this will tie in with the silk ones I have. But I think it's too matchy matchy. So I don't think it will work.

I also have some metal nesting tables I think I'm going to spray paint with red laquer.

And I like this mirror, but am by no means married to it. http://www.zgallerie.com/p-7620-portico-mirror.aspx

Basically I need some awesome red and cream/white accents and wall art. Can you guys give me a hand?

Much love and appreciation.

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Sofia-14-x-20-Decorative-Pillows-Set-of-2/4680221/product.html?rcmndsrc=5 Maybe these in red, since you get a pair. They aren't what I want though. I want that silk that has all the gradations of red in lines.

And these in Cream http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Chic-Collection-20-inch-Throw-Pillows-Set-of-2/3300341/product.html since you also get a pair. They aren't what I want though.

http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?SKU=126323&RN=116& Probably get two of these in cream if they have that color (I thought they did). I like practical throws I can wash frequently. If the have it in cream-- not sand.

I've noticed Home Goods has vases and lamps that tend to be on the same trend as you've posted, here in CT at least. IDK about your area (if they even have them in your area) but they're worth a shot for instant purchase gratification :D

I'm bringing the better half lunch at Pier 1 today so if there is anything you want real life pictures or feedback on let me know :D

The dragon guy is cute!

The new sofa is yummy!

Check out westelm.com if you haven't already. They have great stuff. Bought my couch from them. (Sadly, the sofa I have has been discontinued...wanted a loveseat too. ;( )

Thanks Davi, I plan on indulging myself in a Pier One trip soon. I live 3 blocks from one.

As for Home Goods, thanks for the reminder! It will have to wait for a weekend as the closest one isn't that close, but it would definitely be worth a trip.

Chloe, I was at West Elm this weeked rug shopping (bust) and at Crate and Barrel, Z gallerie and Restoration Hardware as well as EQ3 and CB2.

Last night I bought this rug as a safety rug, If the other one doesn't work in the living room, I can put it under the dining room table and use this one for the living room instead. http://www.paylessrugs.com/lrresources-spectrum-red.html If I do like the other one in the living room, I can put this under the dining room. Either way, it works.

I also bought some ivory pillows too, just to get the ivory ones out of the way.

I'l kinda going for this look. Except this is WAY WAY WAY to matchy matchy for me.

I also bought some wall paper samples I liked. NOT to paper the walls but to cut out and matted and framed for art on the walls.

I'm gonna buy the dragon. He's too cute. He's got a red and blue buddy too. I'm thinking of getting all three of them.

WAY too matchy matchy, (My room won't look like this I have too many existing pieces that are 'eclectic' and will be incorporated to give it less of a hotel room feel). But kind of an inspiration pic, nonetheless. On, and I'm not planning on red drapes. I just need some red art work (or framed wallpaper) on the walls. I also want more ivory accents in there.

Closer to the look I'm going for. I might paint those metal tables black now that I think about it. Hmm...

I'm thinking of either painting my existing lamps cream or red. Instead of buying new. I like the shape of them. And they'd take paint well.

Something else to think about. I'd like to repurpose some of my existing stuff.

Oh this is sooo pretty!! I love it. BTW I really like the couch that you picked out and the Ethan Allen table is great. I love all of their products.I am glad that you added the charcoal instead of going all black tones. It makes it sooo plush and takes it to a whole other level. Are you going to use the indoor tree branch accents? Go with manzanita or something, it will last for YEARS

I don't like this pillow at all, I think it takes away from the look in the last pix that you posted: http://www.pier1.com/catalog/browse/0600.rugs-pillows-windows/tabid/514/CategoryID/144/List/0/catpagesize/25/Level/a/ProductID/4900/ProductName/Garnet-Ruffles-Pillow/Default.aspx

This is very very nice: http://www.art.com/products/p10266517-sa-i1368554/tracey-lofton-raspberry-sky.htm?sorig=cat&sorigid=0&dimvals=0&ui=37702d0e795142908034169d332f4253&searchstring=red

Okay. Ruffley red pillows are nixed.

I like that rapberry print too I think it will look nice on the wall.

I am trying to decide on wall art.

I am thinking about some art prints (like that one) or framing some really cool wallpaper patterns for art. The nice thing about wallpaper is that samples are usually only like 5 bucks a sample and they are decent sized so you can get an idea of the stuff on your wall so they frame up well. So I ordered a few samples and one roll on sale.

I've also requested some decal samples to be sent to see if they will work on the textured walls (they might not). I'd love a big tree with branches like that one in the second pic.

As for the actual branches in a vase... I haven't decided yet. If they are done right they look lovely. But if they aren't the room looks very stark and wintery. I don't want that look. So I'll have to play it by ear after I have the other stuff in the room moved in.

Can anyone find me some nice red throw pillows? I'd like 18 or 20 inch and I've kinda hit a snag with them. I want fabric that looks like this on the pillows, but with only shades of red in the stripes, not multicolored http://www.pier1.com/catalog/browse/0600.rugs-pillows-windows/tabid/514/CategoryID/146/List/0/catpagesize/25/Level/a/ProductID/4822/ProductName/Pallas-Stripe-Window-Panel/Default.aspx.... If I can find it. Which I haven't been able to.

yeah that red ruffle was very v-day looking.

I have access to pacific design center stores, I can login and browse other sites via their search engine. do you mind if the stripes are WIDER or do you want them super thin and close together.. can they go across or do you want them vertical? I guess you can turn the pillow sideways

Yes, I can turn a pillow sideways. LMAO.

I'd love to see whatever you think looks good.

I did just buy these two, I like the texture. But I'd still like two more red pillows.

Surya has a lot of red in the new collection this year: http://www.us-mattress.com/surya-pillows.html

I can keep going and going... anything really stick out to you?

BTW, where did you find that last image w/ the tree branches? I really love those white chairs. I love that whole room a lot.

WOW, thanks so much honey.

All three of the ones I like best are sold out. But I've book marked them and if they are in stock I'll pick them up.

I've hit a wall with the decorating I think. Or it hit me back. One or the other... either way I've got a headache from it. LMAO. I'm going to wait to see how everything I've ordered works out and move forward from there.

The rug I bought for the living room is back ordered so it won't be here till mid-March anyway. So I'm going to put the red one in the living room till then. And see what I think. If I love it, I might just cancel the other altogether and pocket the money.

In that case, the living room will have plenty of red. And I will definitely be investingating non-red stuff.

Oh as for the pic. Google images will pop it up if you search "grey and red living room" ... but Lizzy found it for me. Those chairs are beauiful. Wish I had the space. And that DH wasn't so attached to the recliner we have.

No problem. I am not a design student but my aunt teaches there so I get to browse around a bit. Since I am only picking out wedding things right now, I am always browsing at house decor to get my fix. So this was one. Which three caught your eye?

Gypsy, I can't wait for you to get all of your pieces in then the fun starts and you can PLAY!!! I totally buy a bunch of stuff, bring it home, and decide what works and return what doesn't. I love Home Goods for wall art and pillows! Definitely worth the trip! Please post pics when your stuff starts arriving!

I just wanted to send you a hug and a glass of wine. I'm working on our family room and I am NOT having any fun....root canal is right! Why is it so hard to put a few "chatchkes" together to make a bookcase look nice????

I can't keep up!

Are you planning on posting pics of the room once it's finished? I'd love to see it! I'm sure it will be beautiful.

I think you've made great progress. I would wait on making too many decisions and wait for the furniture to be delivered so you don't find yourself outside of return periods on other items like pillows etc. Good luck and I hope you post pics when it's done :))

I will Lizzy! The steam cleaner is here already :naughty:. That's one purchase that's probably more exciting to me anyone else though, so I'll refrain from posting pics of it.

Zoe, I will post pics, but I'm done buying for now. And even thinking of cancelling the red spectrum rug. Any thoughts?

I'm now looking at stuff around my house I can re-purpose for the living room. Definitely my lamps and my end tables and the frames of my existing wall art.

Yenny, yeah. I used to love shopping. But right now, it's just more decision-making and I don't want to make any more decisions.

I am also trying to fix up the guest room without purchasing anything (well other than the bed, cause we didn't have one and we need a real bed as I've run through 8 air mattresses this year thanks to the cats). I have extra lamps, I have my current living room rug, and my current throw pillows. And our old duvet set from our bedroom. They all match so it's going to be a very cheap re-model. Plus all the wall art from the living room that I can't use the frames from will work in there.

Hera, you are absolutely right. And I will post pics (just as soon as I figure out how to 'break' DH's recliner so I can re-upholster or replace it :Up_to_something: ).

I like the Spectrum rug. You can always buy it and return it if you don't need it or like it as much once seeing it in person. It can't hurt to try it out though and see what you think when everything else is there too.

I decided to keep it for now.

The coffee table got here today. It's huge. It looked MUCH smaller in the store. Hmmm... If I could shrink it by 80% I'd be a lot happier But we'll see how it works with the giant sectional.

I've had that experience too when furniture arrives. It usually looks much bigger than it did in the store. Hopefully once you have everything in and placed, the table will look great. I'm sure it will.

Hi Gypsy, today I was out shopping at Target (yes Target!) and I came across some designer pillows that they are carrying... not their regular line... and they were all red and reddish. they were honestly soooo pretty and I touched them all and some were very very nice material. if you have not reached red pillow critical mass go down to a Target and check them out ;) I was browsing the aisle and when I came across it I was like "OMG MUST LOG ON TO PRICESCOPE AND TELL GYPSY!"

Hi Cherry Blossom. I'll have to go to Target and check it out. You are so funny and thoughtful.

The couch and the table are here. So is the spectrum rug. I like the rug, it's nice quality especially for the price but I don't care for it with the couch and the table. I really think a textured ivory rug (like Rising Sun suggested) would be the best look. Unfortunately I have to find one that will clean well. And I'm probably going to need an 8 x 10.

I got a new job though, and we're moving in the next month or so. And so I'm going to hold off on buying anything else till then. DH is getting a 'man cave' in the new space and I'm going to use the red rug for that. For now, the living room is incomplete and will stay that way until we move.

I promise I will post pics though when I've got the room done though.

My wallpaper samples haven't arrived yet.

I am going to need a nice wall mirror. So that is the one thing I might be buying.

And I am going to paint one of the walls in the bedroom teal.

Darn it. Duncan is already scratching the red rug. Brat. Glad it was cheap.

Congratulations on the new job L! That's great news. What type of company is your new position in? obviously you don't have to answer but I know you've posted about former positions in the past.
