Missouri man behind bomb threats caught

Well, it looks like they have caught the person who was behind the bomb threats to Jewish center


I was at our Jewish Community Center in RI when one of these bomb threats was called in, probably by this man. So I hope he is punished accordingly.

Glad he was caught. Even without action, bomb threats are incredibly scary and the resources that have to go into verifying everything is safe is very expensive and time consuming.

I wish I could say it was the first time or even the 10th.

When I attended a Hebrew Day School we had regular drills for bomb threats.

Yes, as a child I remember feeling very afraid to go back into the school not knowing if I would be safe.

As an adult, it has happened so many times at my Temple and the Jewish Community Center that I volunteer at, that I have become almost immune to the siren or the person on the Intercom alerting us.

The article I read earlier on this topic said the Missouri man is a copycat responsible for at least 8 of the bomb threads, but not more than 100 of the other threats. Based on that, I wouldn't be surprised if the threats continue. What an unexpected source and reasons, though. I feel bad for the ex-girlfriend he stalked and whose life he interfered with for an extended period of time.

The FBI has arrested a disgraced journalist who allegedly made at least eight threats against Jewish Community Centers as part of what federal authorities are calling a "campaign of harassment" against a former lover.

Juan Thompson, 31, is accused of piggy-backing on the wave of bomb threats that have terrorized the Jewish community nationwide just to settle a score with a woman who ended their "romantic relationship" in July, according to federal criminal complaint unsealed in New York City.

Authorities, however, told NBC News thy don't believe Thompson is behind the rest of the more than 100 bogus bomb threats against JCC centers this year. They described him as a "copycat."
